The journey of Lent/Daylight savings

As the days become longer with the light of day and as we walk this journey through Lent, we now know that the season of camping is right around the corner, the season for us all to escape the daily grind and venture to the out doors, where Mother Nature is ready to show us her true beauty. Primitive camping where you pitch a tent and as you lay down to sleep within your sleeping bag, now you can listen to the heart beat of the Earth, listen to all the nightly sounds, like an owl waking from their sleep as they only can see clearly at night, maybe if your lucky you can hear the whispers of the night or maybe a nearby stream will comfort you to sleep with it’s running water?

With your camp site all set up and the camp fire ready for the night sky, you now can plan your day for tomorrow, maybe a hike up a mountain to see as far as you can from the summit of the mountain and as you walk up the trail, you may see some scenes you will never see within the daily grind. Yes it is true a hike can be a lot of work, but it is work much different than the daily grind, it is work that can relax you in the right frame of mind, let alone that it will help clear your mind from all the ugliness that comes with being within a society full of much ugliness. To escape within Mother Nature is a great way to unwind and totally feel the stress melt from your body. We within this ugly society and through the dark days of Winter, let way too much effect us and let all the ugliness consume us to the point that, we become bitter to all that is around us, we forget that there is a whole lot more to this journey of life than, what we see in our daily grind. Yes we all need a paycheck to pay the bills and survive in our lives, but we become so consumed with that…………. we then totally forget to take some ” me” time to unwind and cure our mind, body and soul, so we can walk our paths of this journey in peace and happiness always.

Within this picture is so much peace and serenity, when you sit by the fire and take it all in, look out within the beauty in front of you, you can actually feel the stress leave your body and as the stress leaves you, now you can actually hear all that is around you, listen to the sweet sounds of the different wildlife around you, even hear the fish jump out of the water, hear the Eagles soar by with the greatest of ease, the loons chatting back and forth from a far, not too forget the many different birds singing their tunes throughout the echoes of the sky. There is so much beauty around you, you then forget of the daily grind and even though just for a short time, it is time you now can heal yourself from all the ugliness, heal yourself from what consumes you through the dark Winter days, so now you can clear the clouds from your judgments and totally heal your mind, body and soul from the stress of the daily grind.

Let’s not forget that when you escape to the beauty of Mother Nature, you are now within the home of many other different life forms on this planet, just like we live in our homes and we would hate for others to come in and disrupt our homes, we are now within the homes of so many animals within nature, like bear, moose, deer etc…. So as you set your camp always remember to respect their home, as we would want others to respect ours. Leave no trace while you are there and when you depart back to the daily grind, when you leave no trace when you leave, then you can come back to still more beauty, as Mother Nature is constantly changing with all within it. The plant life, the tree’s and even the animals, change all the time, just like we grow from our young ages, so does all within Mother Nature and it is a beautiful thing, to escape within nature and witness all the beautiful changes. Sometimes the changes to nature comes from violent weather, or maybe fire, but through these kind of changes, it may take some time, but the beauty does come back, for us all to enjoy once again. We all walk our paths through this journey of life, with one of the great perks of this journey, is the taking of some time, to get out and escape the daily grind, to really enjoy the beauty of Mother nature, to be at peace and happiness with ourselves and as we then heal ourselves, to get back in touch with the love within us, so we than can share that love with each other, as we walk our paths through this journey of life.

” Daylight savings may have us dread the loss of an hour, but we do gain more daylight to enjoy the great outdoors”

” Earth has a heart beat just like we do as well, mother nature has it’s beauty as do we as well”

” camping season is the chance for us all to escape the daily grind and relax to heal ourselves from the ugliness and see the true beauty of this journey”

” Mother nature has so much beauty within it, you can clearly see it all when you look deeply within what you see”

The Appalachian Trail………… A trail of serenity and peace.

The Appalachian trail covers just over 2,100 miles, from Mount Katahdin in Maine, to Springer Mountain in Georgia. Thousands of Hiker’s take to this trail as only a few hundred actually finish the entire trail. This has been a dream of mine to hike the entire trail, hopefully one day before my body says other wise I can accomplish this dream. You definitely need to be in top physical condition, as this trail will test you in many ways and the weather you encounter along your trek, well lets just say…….. it will more than test you, it will show just how determined and motivated you actually are in finishing this trail.

Most people that take to this trail, have had some sort of a major life event happen to them and this is how they cope and search for their true selves. Some may be entering in what is known as mid life crisis, they get laid off from a job they worked hard and long at, they realize they don’t really know what they want, so they take to this trail to find themselves within the peace and serenity that is around them along this trail. You meet others that have embarked on the same journey and you hike together for a short time and become friends with them, you chat with each other as the quietness of this trail, will test you yet once again.

When hiking this trail you don’t want to carry too much, as the extra weight will slow your pace and possibly be reason enough to not finish the trail? You carry what you need for a few days and when you get too certain sections of the trail, you then stay a night at some hiker cabins, that are taken care of by others who have hiked this trail and you can be shuttled to town and get your parcel that replenishes your carrying supplies, these parcels are set up before you start hiking and are at post offices waiting for you at your arrival. There are other good Samaritans that set up in places along the trail, in areas that you come down from one mountain and up the next with a crossroad that you cross over, these kind people are usually Boy Scout Troops, or others that just offer hikers, soup or other kinds of comfort foods. You meet a lot of kind Hearted people that are friendly and neighborly, this makes you realize that yes there are other people that actually care for the well being of others.

True the Appalachian trail is a lot of hard work and effort on your part as you walk this trail, but when you take it one step at a time, set a smooth pace that is comfortable for you, you find it is not work at all and you actually enjoy your time in the outdoors, enjoy seeing all that is around you, including the wildlife you may encounter along your journey of the Appalachian trail.

While you are enjoying your time on the trail, enjoying all that is around you, you are also learning better of who you are, learning better of just what you can accomplish when you set your mind to it, You are also learning that there is so much more to life, then you thought when you were back in the comfort of your home and within your comfort zone. When we get into our comfort zones, we are so afraid to step outside of the zone, cause we don’t know whats out there and we are also afraid to try new things as we don’t want the mistakes of the unknown to disrupt what we are doing, so we then never venture out of the zone and never try something in order to find if we like it or not.

The Appalachian trail is more than just a trail when you look deeply into the trail, most will just see it as too much work to embark in such a long walk, but when you look deeply into the trail, you will learn just how to look deeply into yourself, so you can truly find who you really are and what you can truly accomplish when you set your mind to it. Yes this trail will test you in many ways, you don’t need to study for these test, just jump in head to toe with excitement to learn of everything around you including you yourself, as you walk your path along this journey through life.

” The Appalachian trail is not just there to hike in sections for the beauty of the trail, it is there to complete the trail from start to finish, seeing all the beauty around you, including you yourself”

” Just over 2,100 miles from start to finish on this trail, it is not the miles you walk, but how you walk the miles that help you better understand life and yourself within”

” Peace and serenity is what we all need at one point or another along this journey of life, the Appalachian trail offers that for whoever wants to embark on the journey”
