The beauty of small-town America lives in many areas within this great country, now there are many small towns through the years that have not lived on for a variety of reasons and that is sad because small-town America was once the fabric that made this country truly great. A lot of these small towns have become what we know today as a Ghost town, these Ghost towns are deep in history, but once again we forget these places simply because we have become too lazy to learn the history instead, we want to think we are the trailblazer only because we are so engulfed in the idea of being in the limelight, that we forget that America had a past and a great past at that.
I lived in the great state of Colorado for some time, plenty long enough that I explored many areas within this state, whether on the beaten path or off the beaten path, as I had a four-wheel-drive truck, that would get me into a lot of places that a normal vehicle could not go. I drove up across mosquito pass from Breckenridge to Leadville, as high as 13,500 feet, this pass was also the old pony express route that would deliver the mail through all kinds of weather and what took me eight to ten hours, depending on me stopping at the old-time Ghost towns to view, would of taken the pony express two to four weeks to travel depending on the weather. Then there was another Ghost town just outside of Minturn, Colorado that was built literally on the side of a mountain, but people had to leave their homes as the water supply had lead in it, that forced them out. There were many small towns similar all through the state of Colorado it makes for a great state to visit and learn of the true history of America. There is a small town about forty minutes west of Denver called Georgetown, this was once a very vibrant silver mining town, that when times change and the silver wasn’t needed as much, went through some difficult times, a lot had left the town, but the ones who stayed had to think outside the box, as to keep this beautiful small town from turning into yet another Ghost town.
There are many small towns throughout this country of America, some still vibrant today as they had to reinvent themselves to stay afloat, while many others fell to become Ghost towns that are just buildings with no vibrancy or movement from Mankind. Within this society today we take so much for granted and the biggest thing is, we don’t take the time to learn from these pasts, so we then can move forward better and stronger. There is so much we can learn from these small towns, but yet today we are so arrogant that we think we are better than anything from our past? Within these small towns, you had people like you and me today, there are a few who came out of the small towns and made their marks within this country, now some had big impacts and are in the history books, some just for a short time which we do not really look at, then there are the ones who left the small towns to never again looked back? They have forgotten of their roots and have moved forward with only themselves on their mind, we of this society in a lot of ways are doing this now, as when we work our way up within the companies we work, we tend to forget of what it took to get to where we are today. There is a lot more to this journey through life then what is around us at the present time, the problem then lies with each of us not taking the time to explore and see some of what America was, instead we want to think that we are the smart ones and the trailblazers of this country, but if it wasn’t for America’s past and the small towns that built the foundation of this country, then truly where would we all be today?
Everything around you started somewhere, whether a small town or even that technology device in your hand, if you never look back in the past and learn from it, then moving forward will be either difficult or just the fact of, we become wanderers instead of truly walking our paths through this journey of life. For me the best way I have learned of these small towns, was the time spent in the great state of Colorado, only because when I wasn’t working I was exploring and not just what was on the beaten path, I ventured off the beaten path and came across some of America’s smallest towns that are now forgotten Ghost towns, that now is a time that most of us have forgotten with no desire to ever learn from.
” The small towns of America which some have reinvented themselves while others have become a forgotten Ghost town”
” A true trailblazer of any country will explore all of that country, learn all they can to help the country become truly great in the world today”
” The Ghost towns of yesteryear have become forgotten from this society, but at one time it was vibrant and what helped build the foundation of this great country”
