There is no ” I” in Team……..

To be a Champion in any team sport, comes down to the fact that, it’s not about one or two guys, it is totally a team effort and the Boston Bruins have proved that with the great season they are having. On the verge of yet another Stanley cup victory and the way they as a team rebounded from a lack luster performance in game two, they go two games to one in game three, in the best of a seven game series. Game three wasn’t just a win for the Bruins, they did so in the house of the St. Louis blues and in a dominating way, final score was seven to two, while going four for four on the power play also. This team has a good mix of veteran players, as well as great young talent, with a coach that has his finger on the pulse of each game. Chemistry is another part of being a true champion, it is how you are respected by your teammates, knowing your teammates so you can move as one on the ice with pin point passing, as you gain control of the puck away from the other team. The team whether on the ice or off the ice, has to bond together and be ready to battle for each other, like being a family, with the coaches being the parents of the family. These Boston Bruins are a special group, that have come together in harmony, as they put aside the ego’s to work hard at achieving the most prestigious trophy in all of sports…………….. Lord’s Stanley cup.

The Bruins might of dominated in last nights game three match up, but let’s not forget the St. Louis Blues, this team is built very similar to the Bruins, I am sure game four these Blues will be ready to battle once again, the Bruins will have to be ready for the fight and respond as they did in game three. To get this far and be the last two teams standing within the league, with a chance of being the champions of the hockey world, says a lot of both these teams, now with these Bruins being two wins away from the coveted prize, is no time to become comfortable, as the last two wins are just as hard as the last fourteen. For those true fans of the game of hockey, you have basically two seasons in one and we the fans are blessed with such a great game, now through the years the game has had some changes to it, like being a much faster game then years before, but the basics of the game stay in tact, like the first season being the regular season and the second season being the playoffs. With the playoffs there is a slogan we call ” Mission sixteen”, basically we call it that because it takes sixteen wins to win the playoffs and become the keeper of Lord’s Stanley’s cup.

My earliest memory of these Bruins was also against the St. Louis Blues, with the now famous greatest player to ever lace up the skates………… He is Bobby Orr and with an assist from Derek Sanderson, the rest is history with Bobby flying through the air in front of the goalie, for the goal and the winner of Lord’s Stanley’s cup. The Boston Bruins have a rich history and being one of the six original teams within the National Hockey League, not too mention some of the great hockey talent to wear the spoke “B” on their chest, is the reason why I myself Bleed black and gold. With two more wins this special team of the Boston Bruins can cement their names within the rich history of the organization.

Like Tom Brady has become the G. O. A. T. of the football world, we here in the city of Boston has witnessed two G. O. A. T’s of their sports, with Tom Brady and Bobby Orr. There is a lot of sports history here in the city of Boston and with the Bruins on the brink of winning a championship, along with the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots all in the same season, which hasn’t been done since the season of 1935/1936, truly gives this city of Boston the title of ” Titletown U. S. A.”.

I love the game of hockey, played the game when I was younger and with my favorite team so deep in the playoffs, like two wins away from winning Lord’s Stanley’s cup deep, it is very exciting right now, with all eyes on this special team. A team that has battled adversity all season, a team that has bonded together more than a team, they have bonded like a family on and off the ice and has been fun too watch this bonding all season. This team has been resilient all season and watching them in game two and game three, proves just how resilient they are, with an ugly performance in two, and a great performance in three. Would love to see this team finish mission sixteen, as not just for the reward for the players on a great season, but for the third time in the same season, the city of Boston can cue the Duck boats once again, for this type of celebration will never get old, especially with my favorite team.

” In team sports there is never an I, as it takes the whole team to work as one and become a true champion”

” The Stanley cup is the most prestigious and hardest trophy to win of all the sports, which makes hockey the coolest game on ice”

” To be a G. O. A. T. of your sport means that you are the Greatest Of All Time”

” Mission 16 in the game of hockey starts with the playoffs as you are on a mission to win 16 more games to be a true champion of the sport you play and love”

The Patriots got “Played” at Hard Rock Stadium

” Superman has the Kryptonite, as the Patriots have Miami stadium”

                                                                                         *** Bowlingchef ***

This season of the NFL, is one with many flops and turns  by each team. The team mostly in question here are the New England Patriots, as this is my home team and one that I have seen much worse from, than the last few years. I remember this team losing more then they won and the favorite quote year after year was, ” wait til next year”. Now this quote was used by all the Boston team fans, but look at the city now, as they are known for the many titles as “Titletown”, with the Patriots and the Red Sox leading the way.

Yesterday’s Patriots game…………. True it was a heart breaker, but with all seriousness, it was one of those plays that does and will rear it’s ugly head, on to any playing field, of any sport. Today within all the Sports medias, they are all going to be the ” Monday Quarterbacks”, they are all going to be chatting as if they are the experts and all else are second to them, what I say to them is, it is you and your drama that all the sports can do without, so let the players play, keep the drama to yourselves.

Tom Brady is one of those Athletes that does not come along very often, so instead of trying to predict of his retirement, by being overly critical of each play, simply just sit back and enjoy the ride, for the ride will not last forever. It has been twenty years and counting, that Tom Brady has brought the New England Patriots from a team of, not even mentioned in the sports world, to a team of ” Champions”. Tom Brady and Bill Belichek are Winners and when one makes a mistake of calling for the wrong play, OMG!!! The World is going to end? They are human like you and I, they are going to make mistakes like you and I, it is when we correct our mistakes, that has us grow better and stronger moving forward on our path through this journey of life, with Bill and Tom making fewer mistakes over those twenty years, that has us all in the denial part of admitting to the seasons of New England Patriot football before the Belichek and Brady era.

Sports is no different than any other aspect of our lives, there is no such thing as perfection, there will be mistakes made, the difference between the Patriots over the years, compared to other NFL teams, they knew how to correct their mistakes quickly, so they wouldn’t get in the way of their winning seasons. Those that are very successful in life, they to make mistakes as we do, just that they are the Belichek and the Brady’s of the real world, they quickly correct their mistakes, so they can move forward better and stronger, everyday throughout the journey of life. With this last mistake of guarding against the hail Mary and putting Gronk out there on Defense, yes I can see the theory of having someone with good hands and being tall to deflect and knock down the ball, they did this with success when Randy Moss was on the team, but with this changing NFL, you as well need to adapt and change with it, or become the Patriots of old, when the “L’s” would outweigh the “W’s”. To be a Champion in anything, you need to adapt and change, as the New England Patriots, under Bill Belichek, did this better than anybody, which is why they have five Superbowl victories out of eight trips, Tom Brady with five rings, going one beyond his Idol Joe Montana. Instead of hating on this team so quickly and bringing more unwanted drama too us, lets remember on key thing, ” In Bill and Tom we trust”.

” Football is a team sport that is a chess match between the coaches, with the players and their talents, helping the coach make all the right moves, with an occasional over looked play, becoming the miracle play”

”   We all have that something that gets in the way, it gets frustrating, by staying true to who you are, we can overcome that something”

Inside the Boston Briuns, the true perspective…….

The problems of Boston Bruins this season of 2014/2015, simply go deeper than just trading a player for another player, just cause you think it may shake up the team?

What your average fan and most sports media so called know it all’s tend to forget is, there is a lot more to a hockey team than the production of a player. Team chemistry and that special bond between the players goes without saying, other than the Edmonton Oilers of the early 1980’s, which had a team of superstars and just pick a guy including number 99 Wayne Gretzky, you can make a case that this was the best team ever put together in the history of the NHL. Teams like that today will never exist again, reason being is free agency and the salary cap of each team, plus the fact that their team chemistry wasn’t needed as their talent outweighed it by a landslide.

Team chemistry was what the 2004 Red Sox was all about, they weren’t the most talented team but they played for each other and pulled together when they needed to the most, Guys like Kevin Millar (cowboy up), Jonny Damon to name a few and the nick name they gave each other (the idiots), goes to show the team chemistry this team had and what made them a special team, to end the Red Sox drought after 86 years and win the World Series.

This Boston Bruins team had this team chemistry in 2011 and won Lord Stanley cup, they still have the core players that fit the team chemistry, just that they let go three main guys that were part of their core and more importantly helped give this team an identity, of being hard to play against and being a “TEAM” on and off the iced. A good team with chemistry is like being a family and battling for each other every chance a situation arose, these three guys are Jonny Boychuk, Andrew Ference and Shaun Thorton, these are the guys that were part of the core and brought an identity to the team.

When you are missing your identity and struggling in the way you play as a team, the management has to be careful how they fix this and not trade the wrong guy and get back a guy that makes the situation worse, if you give me 20 Patrice Bergeron’s, I will show you a championship every year, this will never happen and you need to be very careful on how you add and subtract players, as this will affect the team for a very long time, until you get back the team chemistry and find the team identity once again.

Now with that said, Brad Marchand and his reputation is hurting this team more than it is helping, granted he has skill, but the reputation is out weighing the talent 2 to 1 right now, if you could pick up a player like Oshie of the ST. Louis Blues, for Marchand and throw in Jordon Caron to sweeten the pot, I would go for that trade all day any day, Oshie has good hands and would be a good fit for these Boston Bruins, put Oshie on the first line, bring Paille to the second line and bring up spooner to play for the big club on the fourth line. This gives you more speed, more craftiness (which leads to goals) toughness to dig the puck out of the corners to the front of the net, which will lead to more scoring, but what it gives you the most is, better team chemistry and even greater, a team identity that you are missing now. When you have a good core of player’s, that have a great team chemistry and a solid identity, plus a great coach with a winning system, now you have a championship team, which the Bruins had in 2011 and can get this back, with some little tweaking and not selling the farm to the highest bidder.

” Boston Bruins still have a good core of players, they just need a little tweaking to regain the chemistry and find their identity once again”

” The chemistry and identity out weigh talent on any team sport, without them you will never win a championship”

You’ve heard of Duck Dynasty? It’s alive and well in the city of Boston

Unlike the TV show Duck Dynasty that a family has made their money from manufacturing a Duck Kazoo, this Duck Dynasty in Boston starts with one of their four Pro teams winning a championship, then being ushered thru the city on board the now famous Duck boats.

We in the city and those throughout New England, have been hugely spoiled with the rash of championships and the great teams we have been witnessing right before our eyes, the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and the Celtics have combined for nine championships over the last thirteen years, can you say true Title Town now? I can cause no other city has had a run like this in my lifetime so far, you can make a case about the Yankees and their winning, but the other teams in that city haven’t help them in the case of the name Title Town.

True we here in New England have been spoiled and a big part of it, goes to two guys named Bill Belichek and Tom Brady, they definitely  will be in the NFL Hall of fame as the best quarterback/coaching tandem in the history of the NFL, but let’s not forget ” in bill we trust”, as his actions to this point have proved that he knows what he is doing. We here in New England have been blessed with some great coaches of our teams, but in my lifetime none better than Bill and Claude Julien of the Boston Bruins. Claude may only have one ring with these Bruins, but his style and way of coaching, keeps this team in the hunt every year.

” Duck Dynasty”. Maybe there should be a new TV show showing what this Duck Dynasty is really about? It is about some converted Armed Services vehicles, that do tours through a city and when a team wins a championship within that city, they get ushered through that city aboard them, with thousands of people screaming and cheering at their favorite teams, you can use the word Dynasty towards a team and how long they have been so good, but nine championships out of thirteen and “keying up the Duck Boats” each time, now that is what I call a ” Duck Dynasty”.

The best thing I saw during today’s victory parade with the New England Patriots was, Tom Brady letting his son hold the trophy and kissing it, just as he himself did after being awarded it at the end of the super bowl. This was the best moment for me, since I watched Ray Bourque giving up the number seven for the number seventy-seven, so Phil Esposito can have his number retired to the rafters of the Boston Garden and into the history of the Boston Bruins.

We here in New England have been blessed with some great teams and championships, yes we have seen our share of downs, but right now we are riding a high, so lets embrace this, enjoy the ride, cause we all truly know that the ride isn’t smooth all the time, you have to experience the lows from any sport, so you can truly experience and appreciate the highs when they come, you also have to learn to lose correctly, so you then can be a great winner, while appreciating it while it is here, this was proven in the way Seattle handled losing at the end of the Super Bowl game and when you lose in this fashion, Karma will always come and bite you in the back side of the Anatomy, so let’s all enjoy the ride of our favorite sports teams here in New England, so when the drought does come we can learn to lose as graciously as we win, then the drought wont be as long, as Karma won’t interfere with the ” Duck Dynasty”.

” nine out of thirteen championships, is nothing to sneeze at for any city looking at sports champions”

” Duck dynasty may be a tv show, but the true duck dynasty is in the true title town of the city of Boston”

Play the Superbowl already!!!

The Superbowl is arguably the biggest sporting event of the year, within all the sports that are played throughout. We as fans have to live through all the Media hype, then deal with all the conspiracy theories of the sports media world, who if you haven’t noticed, know everything about every sport? Lets not forget all the millions spent by the Corporate world, just so they can get our attention of their product/products, then oh yea!! there is a Superbowl half time show, that in recent years have flopped bigger than Peyton Manning did, in last years Superbowl.

Those who enjoy the game of football and know the game of football, know that to get to the game, they have to tune out all the Drama in the week before the big game, lets not forget the players who are trying to practice and focus on executing every snap, so they can help their team win the game. Yes the NFL try’s to put their best foot forward, so they can attract more viewers to their product, what is their product? The player’s and the organizations that bring in the players, so they can try to win the Lombardi trophy. Football is a brand, just like an I-phone is the brand of the company Apple. With all the effort that goes into Superbowl week and all the money spent in preparation of the Superbowl, not to mention the money spent on all the TV. Ads during the big game, one would wonder what would happen, if this money was spent on building this great country and to help make Society better and stronger, for all that walk their path along their journey of life.

Football is a game, but it is a game that brings in huge amounts of money to the NFL(national football league). This isn’t even touching the betting part of the game through Vegas, when you add in this money, it dwarfs the amount the NFL brings in, through the betting side, lets just say the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Any kind of betting in any sport, is a chance anybody takes, with only a few actually making back plus, what they originally put in to the bet, then the ones that lose the bet, only bring out the hate on the team that cost them their bet, common sense will tell you that, if you don’t place the bet and just enjoy the game as a game, then you have nothing to hate and you can enjoy the game you are watching.

When you really think about the Superbowl and are really in touch with your empathetic side, you will truly see that, if a percentage of this money spent just on a game and spent wisely to help all throughout Society, just maybe our Society will become better for all. Instead of all the Companies and yes the NFL is a company also, would spend more money on training and hiring of more employees instead of cutting jobs, they will actually have more production and make more money than they are actually making now. It doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to figure out that, football is a game and a game that brings in big money, just so a few can squander the money away from the ones that need it most. I like football and yes I have my favorite team, only that my true sport that i love more is Hockey. The difference between someone that likes a sport and someone that loves a sport is, the passion for the game and the knowledge you have of that sport. The passion and the knowledge is what gives you the energy to know the game within the game, understand that the sport is a business first and a sport second, each owner of any sport has to make money, so they can bring in the players needed to win a championship, but what most tend to forget? Money don’t buy the championship, you need the right players that play well with each other and form a bond for each other, the chemistry of the players is bigger than the actual money, cause without the chemistry the money spent is wasted money.

” The Superbowl is the biggest game of the year for any sport, but the hype and the money spent is bigger than the actual game itself”

” Football is a game that most get lost in, simply cause they truly don’t understand the game inside the game”

” football is a game of strategy, that which ever team has the best strategy on game day, will win that game on that day”
