The Journey of the trail

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The journey of the trail, some trails are short and some long, some trails are an easy nature walk, as most will test your skill and endurance, none the less all trails offer you the same thing…………. The fact of getting outside and being one with nature.

Don’t be frightened of how the trail may look at first glance, as you will never experience true beauty, as you would on the trail of your choosing, while you look deeply into what is all around you. The journey of the trail will have you travel along many different terrains, with some being muddy and murky, others bumpy with many curves, then as you climb higher, now you walk among the clouds on top of the rocks, that make up the summit of the mountain.

All trails start with the getting out of your vehicle and putting on your gear, including a good pair of hiking boots. You want a good solid but comfy boot, as this will determine of just how good of a day you will have on the trail. You will also need plenty of water as you will need to stay hydrated on the trail, not staying hydrated will lead to a whole different issue, than just walking the terrain of the trail. Don’t forget the first aid kit and keep it stocked, as you never know for what will be needed, especially on rugged terrain. Then there is the much needed snacks for the trail, as with the calorie burn, you will need to replenish the body with the important vitamins. When you are on the trail, you simply never know what you may en-tale? So it is important to be as ready as you can be, for what ever that the trail may have in store along your journey.

Hiking along a trail can be the best and funnest of times, as it can also be the hardest and worst memory of your life, which makes it even more important to be ready for whatever you may come across, to minimize the worst and greatly improve the best of times, you never forget the camera as well, so you can keep good records and good memories, not to forget that, you can capture some really good pictures of many different kinds of animals and plant life, that you may normally never see, in your everyday world. of the 9 to 5 and go home to sleep for the next day.

While there may be many different hikes out there, some being day hikes and others over night hikes, the one that really grabs me is the Appalachian Trail, at just over 2100 miles, ranging from Georgia to Maine and all the states in between, this hike takes six months from start to finish, through all different terrain and all different kinds of weather that Mother Nature may throw at you, but none the less, when you complete this hike, it will not only give you a sense of accomplishment, it will give you a huge confidence boost, that will have you feel like that is nothing you can not do.

Within this broken society for which we all live, sometimes we get so caught up in things that drag us down, instead of pick us up, that we forget about doing things that make us feel great. We are afraid to do things that we think others will poke fun at us, so we then lose sight of just doing things that makes us happy, as we than can walk our paths of this journey through life in peace, so we than can feel good of ourselves, regardless of what others may think of us? Life is too short not to live as we want to live, but always remember that, when we do it correctly, then life itself will bring us great rewards as well, without being sad or depressed for living a life of regret, because we were too afraid to simply be ourselves, be the true person of who we truly are and not the fake person that we hide in plain sight within this broken society.

” The journey of the trail encompasses many things, but nothing better then making us all feel good of ourselves”

” When the terrain becomes rugged and steep, is when we are at our best along the trail to persevere and complete the trail”

” Never forget of truly who you are, as this will always help in us feeling good of ourselves, within this broken society”

” The trail may be long or it may be short, it is still a trail that we can walk, to help us all in being truly of who we are”

The Appalachian trail

The Appalachian trail, a trail that will test you, a trail that will have you see many things, a trail that has many ups and downs and in the rain, will have you trekking through a lot of muddy and slippery trails. This trail goes from Maine to Georgia and covers a lot of different terrain, there has been quite a lot that have started to trek this trail, but the number of those who actually finish the trail, diminish greatly. This is a trail that has intrigued me for a long time and is on my bucket list, maybe one day I will hike it from Maine all the way down to Georgia.

I have read a few books from Authors who have trekked the entire trail, all of which have their own outlook of the trail and maybe that’s what intrigues me the most? Some trek this trail cause they have lost there way along this journey through life, so they go and try to find themselves along the trail, some just do it cause it is there and they just want to climb, there is no wrong reason to trekking this trail, you just have to be prepared for whatever this trail will throw at you and enjoy every mile for which you trek.

The Appalachian trail, a trail rich in history, a trail that has been there as long as we have made America a home, this trail has gone through much change in the way of Mother Nature and the way she erodes the Earth, to make room for the new. Someone could of hiked this trail once when they were younger, then come back some fifty years later and find that a lot has changed because of erosion, as Nature will get rid of it’s old to make room for the new, just like as we age, from the young baby, to the old man/woman. Everything changes and Nature is part of the change like you and I.

There are some parts of this trail that have been kept up by the hands of Humans, yet there is a lot of this trail that is untouched by man, it is these parts that maybe intrigue me the most, as these sections you don’t see everyday, these sections are so far removed from any civilization, that the normal person won’t even think they exist. These are the sections you have to be prepared for the most, as they could be the homes of some Bear, Moose etc….. Now your the invader and within their territory to respect as you walk. Just as if you were at your home and you would want your visitors to respect your home and belongings, now you have to respect the Animals homes and their belongings.

A Survivalist  is someone that can trek anywhere and not only survive where they are trekking, but can also adapt to the area for which they are trekking. A Survivalist is not someone with a silver spoon you know where, it is someone that can adapt anywhere and with anything that they come across, in today’s Society a Survivalist is far and few between, as most today rely on their techy devices and their social media platforms. Out there on the trail you learn your direction by where the sun is at the time of day you look up, you know sun rises in the East and sets in the west, so there is your six o’ clock and twelve o’ clock on the dial within the sky, so where ever the sun is from that will determine direction and time of day.

We all walk a path through this journey of life, within this journey of life, there are many other journeys and the Appalachian trail is one of those journeys. We all have our own journeys for which we want to trek through, but the one on my bucket list for someday is, the Appalachian trail as this trail intrigues me in ways that, only a trek of the trail will truly explain. Now you need to be in pretty good shape to trek this trail, as you will be climbing mountains as well as walking through prairies, you will be trekking in all kinds of weather and need to be ready for it as well, okay there are some different kinds of shelters along the way, like a lean-to’s to climb into, or maybe a hut to seek shelter in, but a lot of the shelter you will be in, will be the tent you carry on your back, strapped to your pack. Life along this trail is quite different than life within any city and you can’t just flip open a phone for help when needed, you need to learn to survive, to make your life along this trail, go as smooth……as smooth can be, while trekking through a Wilderness, far away from your civilization home.

” Appalachian Trail is a trail many have started, but few have finished from Maine to Georgia”

” To survive is not just flipping open a phone for help, it is surviving a place totally out of your normal routine”

” There are many journeys within the journey of life, some of which many will not trek cause it is away from their comfort zone”

” To be one with Nature and it’s surroundings, you first have to respect whats inside of nature without stirring the pot to vigorously”

Get lost within the beauty of nature

The green grass of nature like a soft carpet beneath your feet, the water so still it reflects all that is around it, this little boat house just adds to the beauty that is all around it, with nature so pristine it just screams for us to come and explore all that it has to offer. As you walk through this beauty, you will be rewarded with some wildlife like a Deer, Moose or maybe even a Bear, then there are the small creatures like a Beaver or maybe a few Ducks, we share this land with them and we all have to respect each other so we can be at peace with all that is around us. When we are at peace we then can enjoy as we walk and become one with the beauty of nature.

Right now we are in the clutches of Old man Winter, he has laid a white blanket upon all this green in the picture, this blanket serves a purpose as it covers the green, so it then can be as beautiful as ever when the season of Spring comes and thaws the white blanket and reveals the bright green soft carpet for us to walk within nature once again. With the white blanket that Old man Winter has laid on the surface of Earth, it also has a beauty to it, if you put on a pair of snowshoes or maybe cross country skis, then you can explore the true beauty of Old man Winter. Nature has so much beauty  and it is all around us no matter where you may be, you really don’t have to go far to truly see what Nature has in store for us to see.

True back woods wilderness camping to some may be a no go, but for the adventurous types, the beauty will totally take your breathe away, yes when you first get to a spot that you like to make camp at, it may take some work to set up camp,  like your tent and the canopies which acts as your outdoor kitchen, complete with camp stoves and grill, then there is the gathering of wood for the nightly fire to keep the night chill away, but after the first few hours, you are home free to totally enjoy all that nature has to offer around you. Sit by the lake and listen to the water hit the shore, listen to the Loons sing their tune as they swim by, watch the Eagles soar by in the sky and from time to time, you can catch them dive the water and come up with their daily meal, maybe if your lucky and a safe distance, you can see a big powerful Moose come to the water for a drink and a splash? There is so much to Nature that if you don’t take to an adventure, you will miss the best part of walking your path along this journey through life. You can also take the trail, the Appalachian trail to be exact, a little over 2100 miles from Springer mountain Georgia, to mount Kahtadin in Maine. This trail has so much beauty for you to see, yes there is some work of actually hiking up and down mountains, but when your lost within the beauty of nature, you don’t even think of it as work, you have a pack on your back with necessary supplies, including a small backpacking tent and a sleeping bag, so you can pick your spot when the time comes to rest your weary bones from the daily journey each and every day along this beauty of a trail. Someday I would love to do this entire trail, so I can become one with nature and truly see all the beauty it has for me to see. We all walk a path through this journey of life, but unless you take to the adventure of going outdoors and truly seeing the beauty of nature, you will totally miss out on a lot of what is around you.

” Getting lost within nature will have you walking and becoming one with nature to truly enjoy what is all around you”

” The green carpet of nature will give way to the white blanket of winter, so it can rejuvenate and be as beautiful for the next season to come”

” Back woods wilderness camping will take your breathe away with its beauty, all you have to do is be adventurous to see all the beauty it holds”

” The Appalachian trail is a trail like no other, it takes six months to complete but it is six months of heaven on Earth”

Why do they call it the Loon???

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This bird known as the Loon, is also known as the Maine state bird. Not sure how it received the name of Loon ( have to research this), but the sound it makes is so soothing, as you sit lake side and relax watching the sunset  to the sound of the Loon.  The Loon is a quiet bird that goes about it’s business very quietly, it doesn’t bother anyone as it swims around the lake with no worries in the World. As good as the Loon swims above the water, it swims very well below also, you see him in this picture here and as you take the shot, he will duck under water and swim to the other side of the lake, like a fish beneath the water. The Loon and the Eagle as well as a few Herring, are what I saw most of as I camped for a week in northern Maine, mixed in with a Moose one morning at 4:00 am. I was woken one morning by some splashing outside my tent, but as I slowly opened the door, as to not alarm what was out there, I saw a Moose splashing water on himself/herself, wish I could of taken a picture, but didn’t want to startle the Moose with the flash, as it wasn’t light enough to take the shot without it. We all need to take a break every once in a while in a place where peace and serenity are everywhere, We all want to go to the exotic places where there are way to many others with the same idea, to me this is no way to totally relax, this could also be a big reason why there is way too much ugliness in our Society today? When most go south for the beaches and heat, I go north for cool and the mountains and around these mountains is where you find the peace and serenity, front and center all around you.

Like I said the Loon is a quiet bird that goes about his/her business and doesn’t bother anything around it, so why then the name of the Loon? I can think of a few of the species of the Humans that should have the name the Loon, simply because some are just a Lunatic, that will harm and hurt you, without thinking twice about it. We should all be like the Loon and enjoy everything that is around us, without trying to hurt others, in order to try to control everything around you.We all at one time or another have been a Victim, or we have Victimized someone else? It could be something simple like giving the finger as someone cut in front of you on the road, or maybe you got angry and punched someone in the face breaking their nose, or maybe even mentally like, not acknowledging someone, that just wants to be a friend? Either way you have been a creator of a Victim, or maybe you have been the Victim of this similar behavior?   Until we all treat each other with respect and dignity, this ugliness will never go away, we are the real Loons or lunatics here as we walk our paths of this journey through life, because the Maine state bird known as the Loon, is a peaceful bird that soothes you with it’s sounds as the sunsets on the lake.

This picture is so peaceful on so many levels, the calm water of the lake making the travel of the Loon easy across it’s journey, then the Loon just swimming along as peaceful as can be and unless you were looking out into the lake, you would never of saw him. This is what peace and serenity is all about, this is how to totally relax and wipe your mind clear of all the negative thoughts. As you sit in your chair lakeside and watch the sunset, listening to the soothing sound of the Loon, Then clearing your mind of all the ugliness, this is how to totally relax and as you relax, with all the pressures of everyday escaping your body, you will fall quickly asleep, leaving you with real sleep and not just closing your eyes, so you can function at work the next day. This could be the answer to all of us in this Society and for the why of, how this ugliness has engulfed us all. We simply don’t take the time to truly relax and to truly get the rest we need, in order to function properly, as we walk our paths through this journey of life.

” why call this beautiful bird the Loon, when it is nothing but peaceful and bothers nothing along its journey”

” To totally relax is something we all need to learn and take the time to truly do”

” Negativity breeds this ugliness around us, time we all do our part and let the negative thoughts go once and for all”

” Instead of the name of the Maine state bird being the Loon, maybe something more peaceful would of been more appropriate”

The Real true Beauty that is around us

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a mountain range in Franconia Notch, within the state of New Hampshire, One of the most beautiful of Notches that New Hampshire has. Once you reach the summit of any of these mountains, then walk across the ridge between each mountain, really there are no words, just quite simply……… it will take your breathe away with the beauty, especially on a beautiful sunny day with no clouds. For those yet to embark on any kind of real hiking and not a simple nature walk in the woods…….. what are you waiting for? True the journey to the summit may be a bit physical, it may take some work to walk the trails to the top, but the end result will leave you in awe for the rest of your life, not too mention, actually seeing all the true beauty of God’s Country, the way he envisioned us to seeing it.

Within this Society we all live, we don’t take enough time to enjoy all that is around us and I don’t mean, watching all the ugliness that surrounds us, or maybe keeping an eye on someone walking down the street, then wondering if they will try to break into your home? To truly enjoy all that is around, go to places that you normally would never go, go trekking on some trails that actually give you a workout and takes some work to walk, go camping in places that don’t offer you a swimming pool or nightly events for campers in the recreation hall,  go camping in places that are deep within the woods and your devices won’t work or even get a signal, that is the problem in this Society, people are afraid to go away from being plugged in to any device. There is a lot more to this journey of life then we even think about in our daily lives, we get so caught up in the crap, we then forget about the real world out there among us. I get the fact that we all suffer some life events at one time or another but what we forget is, instead of suppressing the crap deep within ourselves, fix what needs to be fixed, so we can continue walking our paths with confidence and strength. When we are strong and confident, our self Esteem then flourishes which helps us achieve all that we set out to do, when we suppress we then become someone we are truly not, which then leaves us within the world of self doubt, which is a place that has zero beauty to it at all. We all need an intervention in this Society, we all need to fix what the true problems are, so we than can continue to walk our paths of this journey through life, with strength and confidence, to be better and be at peace within ourselves and what is around us.

There is a lot more to all our paths of this journey through life, all we have to do is go out and explore, do things that take us out of our normality, change is good and when done correctly, change can be great for us all as we walk our paths of this journey. Go hiking up a mountain that offers you a challenge and that in return, will have your breathe taken away by the sure beauty that is around you. True you may become addicted to this beauty, but I would rather this addiction, then any evil addiction, like drugs… alcohol etc….. If hiking is not for you, then take to some real camping, like being one with nature and camping so deep in the woods, that your alone with your thoughts to unwind and clear your head of all the cob webs, that this Society en-plants within you. Real Primitive camping is how our true Ancestor’s lived, these are the true Warriors of Mankind and us today are totally weak compared to them. We have become so lazy with all this technology at our finger tips, that we have totally forgotten how to truly live anymore. We have become so dependent on being plugged in,  that we have forgotten how to unplug and enjoy all the true beauty around us. We have become so crazy within this Society, that we complain about everything around us, instead of really doing something about it, when we complain of everything we will never truly see the beauty around us, which will then have us become bitter of everything including becoming bitter of ourselves, which then lets self doubt enter into our lives as we walk our paths of this journey through life.

There is a lot more to life and walking our paths then being plugged in all the time, get out and enjoy all that is around you, simply by doing things out of the ordinary and taking you out of your normal life. Go out and explore in places that you would normally never venture, go trekking through the woods and see what kind of true beauty awaits you? Unplug from your daily routine and get plugged into a whole new world to you, a world that has no electricity and if you walk far enough, you just might find the true you, the you that has become lost within this ugly Society of today. We as Humans are very unique to each other, but when we keep attacking one another, only shows just how dumb we have become within this Society and the fact that we all need a major intervention, as we walk our paths of this journey through life.

” The true beauty awaits you, all you need to do is unplug and explore what is around you”

” Hiking and camping to some is too much work, but it is work that will give you the biggest rewards”

” Unplug from your devices and get outdoors and plug into the true beauty of life and truly find the real you hidden inside”

” Change is scary, change can be difficult, but when done correctly, change can be the greatest thing we will do”

On the Grand scale……..

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

“This picture is so awesome on every level, but to truly see just how awesome, you first have to look deeply into what you see”.

Throughout this Journey of life it can seem overwhelming at times, the pressures of everyday living can mount up in ways we totally don’t understand, things happen that takes us out of our comfort zone, then because we become uncomfortable, we then get frustrated and stressed out, we do things in ways we never did before, simply because we just want these times to end and hopefully get back to where we feel most comfortable. Along these paths we walk, no matter of which path you choose, there will always be things that will happen it is part of the Journey, these things will seem to us as huge obstacles that we see as being to big to over come, which then has us lose our sense of direction, our self esteem, our faith and our confidence in ourselves. these things will cloud our judgments to the point that, we don’t even know who we really are anymore? We become to afraid to reach out, cause without a self esteem, we then think everyone and everything is against us, we let these things control us, instead of we controlling these things, we then totally forget the fact that, if we can’t control something, than just simply walk away, before it overwhelms us to the point of this fear. We can only control something when we are in control and know truly of who we are and have complete faith in all we do. Knowing of who we truly are and staying in touch with our true feelings and emotions, goes along way in each of our lives, plus it goes a lot further on our paths of this journey through life.

When driving through Mountain areas like this and seeing the road twist and turn throughout them, is more than just beautiful to see and they can overwhelm us if we don’t know were we are going, but as we look on the map to see where we are and where we are going, then these mountains become even more beautiful to us, these mountains then will never seem to be an obstacle to us, as we take control of the wheel and twist and turn with the road, to get through the mountains without becoming lost. Life is similar to driving through areas like these Mountains, the road twists and turns just like the paths we walk, the mountains are like obstacles that we get around as we drive the roads and if we miss a turn, well…… than we just might end up in the water that is all around us throughout this Planet Earth.

We go to places like these mountains and the mountain roads, so we can get away from our everyday lives for a short while, so we than can think, unwind and clear our minds from the crap of our everyday lives. We get so stressed out that we can’t even see clearly of who we are, our minds become clouded within the clouds of our judgments, which then has us lose sight of where we are going, when we distress we then can see clearly of who we are, we can actually feel our true feelings and emotions, then with our true feelings in check, we then can strengthen our self esteem, which helps us have total faith in all we do.  When we are in control there is nothing we can’t do, there is no obstacle that will ever seem too big and there is no path we can’t walk with confidence, as we walk our path through this Journey of life.

” The mountains we look at as we drive the mountain roads, are similar to the mountains we overcome along this journey through life”

” There are many twists and turns that come before us, whether we are driving the mountain roads, or walking our paths through this journey of life”

” Miss a turn on the mountain roads and you just might end up in the water, miss a turn along this journey of life and we end up lost through the clouds of our judgments”

To look deeply into what you see

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This picture is taken just above 3,000 feet and you can see that you are getting above the tree line, but what is even more spectacular of this picture, is that you can see more clearly of what is around you. This was in the morning and as the sun burns off these clouds, you can even see as far as the eyes can see, you can see more clearly of the mountains around you, as these we are looking at are within the Franconia Notch area. You can’t quite make out the tall peaks like Lafayette or Liberty, only because of the low lying clouds, but once they burn off, the view becomes much more popping to the eyes.

This Notch I would have to say is the most beautiful to the eyes, than all the other Notches throughout the White Mountain Region, especially where I have seen it from multiple angles and on top of multiple mountains throughout the notch and I must say, there is no bad angle, when you really look deeply into what you see.

Within this Society we all live, we totally take for granted of views like this, because we are too busy to look deeply into what we see, some may go to places like this, but do you really look at what you see, or do you just go to these places to say ” Ya… I have been there”. Places like this are totally part of God’s hard work, just so we can visit and really look deeply at what we see, a place to go and totally unwind, from our everyday nose to the grind type of living with our jobs, so we can try to make ends meet, a place to go to think and clear our minds, that gets filled with the everyday crap, a place to go when we are feeling overwhelmed, feelings that we don’t understand because of some of the Life Events that may cross our paths. We all struggle at one point or another along our paths of this journey, it is places like these that when we look deeply into what we see, we can go to think, look at all the true beauty around us, be alone with our thoughts to chat with Jesus and better understand ourselves and our thoughts, clear our minds of all the crap, get back in touch with ourselves, our true feelings and emotions, so we than can move forward better and stronger along our paths of our journey through life.

Views like this will definitely take your breathe away when you look deeply into what you see and when you let yourself feel the true feelings that is within you. in this Society it is looked at as a weakness if you let your feelings show, or even let yourself cry when you need to cry, but if you fully take advantage of places like this, we all can move forward better and stronger throughout Society and as we walk our paths of this journey through life.

” Franconia Notch of New Hampshire has a beauty so great, that you need to look deeply into what you see, to see just how great”

” Life above the tree’s is so fragile, you need to experience it, just to see how delicate life truly is”

” God worked hard to create this Planet of Earth, we just have to look deeply into what we see, to truly respect all his hard work”

” This journey through life just isn’t about gathering all the material things and having all the money, just look deeply into what you see to truly see all the true beauty around you”

The White Mountain Region of New Hampshire

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This is one of the most beautiful notches within the White mountain Region, known as Franconia Notch with some of the best hikes for the adventurous types. Lafayette, Liberty, little Haystack, the Flume, just some of the peaks within this Notch and when high above the tree’s and along the ridge of these mountains, the view will take your breathe away. Looking across to the other mountain which would be to my right as I took this picture, is Cannon mountain, lively with skiing in the winter and mostly known for the old Man of the mountain throughout my lifetime, til a few short years ago and erosion has brought him to his demise,   one of the most viewed landmarks throughout all of New England, he brought many lookers to this beautiful Notch. Now unless you are a Hiker and are hiking this beautiful Notch, the traffic just drives by without really looking deeply into what they see.

Just to the right of center in this picture within this large rock face you see, just below the top, there is a huge rock, visible to those who walk along the ridge above the tree’s, this rock is hanging almost like by a thread and it has been like this as long as I can remember, well……. if this rock someday falls as the face of the Old man of the mountain did, it would go down it’s peak, across the road below and up Cannon mountain and whatever is in its way, it will simply run it over as it is that big.  Hiking through this Notch and accomplishing each Summit, there is no better feeling in the World, especially hiking up mount Lafayette, i can remember about five false summits, every time I thought the summit was in sight and when I got to that location, there was another to reach, but even through all that the view from the summit was better than the word of ” awesome”, if you reached the summit and it was a beautiful sunny day with blue clear skies, you can see as far as your eyes will let you. There is another one of those AMC huts for the weary Hiker to rest and get a good meal, this is the Green leaf hut and when you get there, get settled in and go outside to sit on a rock, look at the scene before you, there is no better way to unwind from a days hike, let alone to clear your mind from being weary, to totally relaxed before you know it, again this hut is above the line of tree’s and you can see clearly in all directions, or whatever window you may look out from inside the hut.

Hiking is a good way to clear your mind, from the everyday crap that fills it, from wherever you may live. It is also good exercise that will keep you fit if you do a lot more than one hike a year? Hiking and meditation go hand in hand, as the hike to the summit may be strenuous and weary, but when you reach the summit, now it is time to relax and clear the mind, as meditation will do. When you sit on top of any summit, you gaze deeply into the horizon, while you breathe in and breathe out properly, which then relaxes all your muscles within your body, then you feel a sense of calm over whelm your body, this calmness helps fix yourself from whatever that is troubling you, it makes these troubles seem like they are melting away, then as we start the journey back down the mountain and back to the real World below, it is our memory of this sense of calmness, that helps us keep fixing ourselves from all our troubles, as we then get back to walking our paths of this journey through life, with the rest of Mankind around us.

” Franconis Notch to some may be a road surrounded by mountains, but to others it is a sanctuary away from reality to unwind and relax, while we get mesmerized by its beauty”

” Old Man of the Mountain was a popular man for a long time, but like anything else change comes even when you least expect it”

” Once you go to the White mountains  for the first time, you keep going back to truly look deeply into what you see”

” When you look deeply into what you see, you then see truly of all the beauty that is around you”

The Grand Mount Washington Hotel

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The Mount Washington hotel has a deep history to it and as long as it has been there, I am sure a few good haunting stories to go along with it. Every time I go by this Hotel I am inclined to stop and take in the beauty all around it, the mountain range in the back drop of the hotel I have hike many times, the range is known as the Presidential Range. Just to the left of the Hotel and socked within the clouds is Mount Washington, at an elevation of 6,288 feet, it is the tallest peak Northeast of the Mississippi River, a mountain I have hiked many times, been up the auto road a couple times, but have never been up the Cog Railway, as…okay…… Maybe a bit nervous to travel up a mountain, that I have no control of how it gets to the top and back to the bottom of the peak, but I would rather hike the mountain, so I can take in all the true beauty that is around me. When hiking to the top of this mountain on this side, you go past one of the many Huts that are spaced out within a days hike of each other, this hut you pass is known as the Lake of the clouds hut, yes there are two small lakes there, one used strictly for drinking and the other for jumping in to cool off after a long days hike. This hut is wide open with no tree’s around, making for an adventure in itself, when there is a passing thunder storm that has decided to take the same path as you along the trail. I can also say truthfully that I have hiked part of the Appalachian trail and this Presidential range is part of that trail as well, but hopefully one day I will be able to hike the entire Appalachian trail and be part of the history of that trail, like so many have tried and only a few actually have hiked the entire trail.

The other reason why I stop to look at this Hotel and the beautiful backdrop behind it is, it reminds me of the famous Stephen King and his book ” the Shining”, the only difference is the Hotel in the book is surrounded by the awesome Colorado Rockies, of which those mountains are much bigger, making the hiking adventure more rigorous, harder on the feet, but yet more spectacular on the eyes. Both Hotels are Grand in their own way and I am sure each has their stories that either differ or are similar to each other,   but unlike the Hotel in the book, the Mount Washington Hotel stays open in the winter, which brings a whole different clientele within the walls of the Hotel. The Hotel in the book closes for the winter, as it’s private setting  makes it difficult to get to, in a harsh winter storm. Which is why there is a caretaker that stays there alone through the winter months and towards the end of their time there, the quietness and the “magic” of the Hotel, starts to play with the mind of the caretaker, making for a creepy read, or a movie if you have seen the movie instead? Just like the Hotel in the “shining”, I am sure the Mountain Washington has it’s own story to tell, just that it hasn’t spoken like the Hotel in the book.

I can remember hiking the Presidential range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire as a young kid and staying in the huts up above tree line, these huts had their crews that worked up there feeding and taking care of the weary Hiker, at night before we would turn in for the night, these crew members would embark in some Ghost stories for us, they would use other huts or trails we have yet to embark on, as the basis of their stories, now whether these stories were actually true or made up well…… that was up to the ones that were listening and hanging on their every word. Now some of these stories actually were told so well, it was very hard to not believe, but then again with so many Hiker’s that have perished along these trails, maybe there actually were some Ghosts still walking these trails, to try to finish what they set out to do? Hiking these trails is so quiet and peaceful, it can play with your mind and have you hear things that is not really there, only because it is so quiet with a feeling of loneliness, I can only imagine if I were to hike the entire Appalachian Trail, from Springer mountain Georgia, to Mount Katahdin in Maine and with the quietness and the peacefulness that will surround you along the way, just how much will my own mind want to play tricks on me as well? But with that said, it is still a trail for which I would love to walk, as the ones that have started and finished this trail, it has changed them for the better, with a big feeling of accomplishment, that will never leave them, nor will anyone ever take it from them as well.

The Mount Washington Hotel nestled within the mountains and the clouds of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a Hotel full of grandeur and spaciousness, that also has it’s own story to tell and we simply have to listen, so we can understand better of the beauty within and around it. Don’t just stay at the Hotel, just to say you have stayed there, really breathe in the atmosphere around you, look deeply into what you see, explore all that is around you and really listen to what the Hotel tells you, as old as it is, i am sure there are some squeakiness  to it and through the squeakiness, could be the Ghost of the Hotel, trying to tell you the true story of where you are staying, who knows the bed that you are sleeping on, or the room you are staying in, could of been used by one of our Fore Fathers, that had a hand in building this great country of America? Which would make the voice or voices you hear very informative with a history lesson, of the Grandest Hotel that you may ever stay within.

” everything around us has its own story to tell us, all we have to do is take the time to listen and not only enjoy, but pay attention with our hearts and souls”

” The mount Washington hotel is a very old hotel full of history with spectacular views, to stay here is more than just sleeping in a bed”

” The White Mountains of New Hampshire are great to look at from all angles, but to hike within them, now you can actually feel the heart beat of each mountain”

The Solitude of Camping.

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

Camping in a tent within the Wilderness is there no better way to get away and unwind,

The quiet Solitude of just kicking back and clearing your mind of all the crap,

sitting in front of a campfire and picking softly on the guitar in tune with nature,

no care of what time it is, nor even when it is time to eat just flowing with nature,

no hustle and bustle or running around, just relax and enjoy your surroundings,

stress? there is none within the world of camping as you get back in touch with reality,

while camping take a nature walk to look deeply and see whats around you,

a good walk within nature is more than exercise as it helps you get in tune with yourself,

A good walk within nature helps you look deeply at what you see around you,

listen to the sweet music of the birds chatting with each other along your path,

a walk within nature is no work at all, as it totally relaxes you and clears your mind,

then as you get back to your campsite, you are ready to fully enjoy what camping is about,

some may not like sleeping in a tent, others sleep like a baby with no interruptions,

sleeping in the wilderness in a tent helps reset the body’s clock,

so you than can get back to truly being who you are,

as you eliminate the crap and get back your true feelings and emotions,

the crackle of the campfire and the blue flame near the hot coals will mesmerize you,

as you go into a trance that totally soothes you from head to toe,

the campfire can put you to sleep or with a group,

you can share stories or even make up some ghostly stories that intrigue you,

it’s all part of the magic of the campfire,

camping like the campfire has it’s magic, but this magic,

will have you clear your mind, body and soul to totally relax and unwind,

the set up of the campsite may take some time depending on what you have,

but once camp is set now it’s time to unwind and clear your mind body and soul,

camping in a tent may not be for some as for others its the only way to camp,

in a tent will get you back in touch with reality,

in an RV or a trailer it is too much like home and you lose the effect of true camping,

who needs electric while camping, when you have flashlights, lanterns whether battery,

or propane, then cooking is done on the camp stove and grill, or simply on a grill on the campfire,

there was once a time that there was no electric or any other amenity,

it was like camping everyday along your path of this journey through life,

we all forget the true magic of camping, cause we are stuck within this easy society,

those who lived in the time of no electric, had no clue of the word stress,

they worked hard to maintain their campsite everyday,

but to them it wasn’t work just something they had to do to survive,

plus they did it in moderation to stay in tune with themselves,

stay in tune with all that is around them including themselves,

leaving them fully in tune of who they truly were,

leaving them with their true feelings and emotions in tune,

so they can walk their path along this journey of life in peace and serenity.

” camping may not be for some, but for others they become more in tune with themselves and all that is around them”

” wilderness camping in a tent is the most therapeutic thing you can do, as it totally gets you back in touch with yourself and  all that is around you”

” to feel the magic of camping while enjoying the magic of the campfire, will have you be truly of who you are and while you walk your path in peace always throughout this journey”
