The Journey of the trail

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The journey of the trail, some trails are short and some long, some trails are an easy nature walk, as most will test your skill and endurance, none the less all trails offer you the same thing…………. The fact of getting outside and being one with nature.

Don’t be frightened of how the trail may look at first glance, as you will never experience true beauty, as you would on the trail of your choosing, while you look deeply into what is all around you. The journey of the trail will have you travel along many different terrains, with some being muddy and murky, others bumpy with many curves, then as you climb higher, now you walk among the clouds on top of the rocks, that make up the summit of the mountain.

All trails start with the getting out of your vehicle and putting on your gear, including a good pair of hiking boots. You want a good solid but comfy boot, as this will determine of just how good of a day you will have on the trail. You will also need plenty of water as you will need to stay hydrated on the trail, not staying hydrated will lead to a whole different issue, than just walking the terrain of the trail. Don’t forget the first aid kit and keep it stocked, as you never know for what will be needed, especially on rugged terrain. Then there is the much needed snacks for the trail, as with the calorie burn, you will need to replenish the body with the important vitamins. When you are on the trail, you simply never know what you may en-tale? So it is important to be as ready as you can be, for what ever that the trail may have in store along your journey.

Hiking along a trail can be the best and funnest of times, as it can also be the hardest and worst memory of your life, which makes it even more important to be ready for whatever you may come across, to minimize the worst and greatly improve the best of times, you never forget the camera as well, so you can keep good records and good memories, not to forget that, you can capture some really good pictures of many different kinds of animals and plant life, that you may normally never see, in your everyday world. of the 9 to 5 and go home to sleep for the next day.

While there may be many different hikes out there, some being day hikes and others over night hikes, the one that really grabs me is the Appalachian Trail, at just over 2100 miles, ranging from Georgia to Maine and all the states in between, this hike takes six months from start to finish, through all different terrain and all different kinds of weather that Mother Nature may throw at you, but none the less, when you complete this hike, it will not only give you a sense of accomplishment, it will give you a huge confidence boost, that will have you feel like that is nothing you can not do.

Within this broken society for which we all live, sometimes we get so caught up in things that drag us down, instead of pick us up, that we forget about doing things that make us feel great. We are afraid to do things that we think others will poke fun at us, so we then lose sight of just doing things that makes us happy, as we than can walk our paths of this journey through life in peace, so we than can feel good of ourselves, regardless of what others may think of us? Life is too short not to live as we want to live, but always remember that, when we do it correctly, then life itself will bring us great rewards as well, without being sad or depressed for living a life of regret, because we were too afraid to simply be ourselves, be the true person of who we truly are and not the fake person that we hide in plain sight within this broken society.

” The journey of the trail encompasses many things, but nothing better then making us all feel good of ourselves”

” When the terrain becomes rugged and steep, is when we are at our best along the trail to persevere and complete the trail”

” Never forget of truly who you are, as this will always help in us feeling good of ourselves, within this broken society”

” The trail may be long or it may be short, it is still a trail that we can walk, to help us all in being truly of who we are”

The view from the Summit

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

Hiking up a mountain is more than just going out for a jaunt, or some exercise, you don’t see a mountain and climb it just because it is there, you hike a mountain to look deeply in what you see, you hike a mountain to reach the summit of the mountain, so you can look out deeply into the horizon and truly see all the beauty all around you, while you sit and enjoy the peace and the serenity from all the true beauty.

Hiking up a mountain is a whole lot more than exercise, it is therapy for the soul. Sometimes you start out on a hike with some extra baggage, then just the pack on your back,  that extra baggage comes from the society for which we live. After a while our judgments get clouded, we become bothered by every little thing, our minds get filled with negativity and the positivity then disappears from the limelight. When you are hiking it is you, the trail and Mother nature which gives you a chance to escape and actually think of, what your next move will be. In this day of Social Media, some may hike just to brag on their social platforms, or maybe brag to others that they reached the summit of a certain mountain, they are not using what real hiking does for your soul properly, as when they come back from the summit, they feel even more clouded after, than before they even started the hike.

True hiking is the enjoyment of the hike, being on a trail and seeing things you normally would never see in your everyday life. The journey of climbing up a trail, to be as high as you can be, above the line of the tree tops, looking out into the horizon and really looking deeply into what you see, being one with yourself and Mother Nature, while you clear the clouds of your judgments, to think more clearly and to let the big weight of a society, melt away into the deep blue horizon. To hike properly along a trail and to the summit of a mountain, is to unwind, so you than can be truly of who you are and not the person that Society thinks you are, yes hiking is a free kind of therapy, that soothes your heart and soul, so you can move forward along your path of this journey through life, in peace and happiness always.

Hiking will bring change to you as you walk the trail of the mountain, whether it’s in the form of your surroundings, or it’s within you yourself with your attitude at the start of the hike, because at the beginning of the hike, you are filled with hatred and ugliness from a broken society, you are filled with negativity from the ugly society, then as you hike further, you can actually feel the negativity and the hatred, melt away and leave your body, making you feel much lighter as you move forward along the trail. The change that happens along the trail is within you and on the trail of the mountain, it not only helps you see the beauty in all that is around you, it helps beautify the soul deep within you, leaving you with good thoughts, more positivity than negativity and helps you stay true to who you are, without hiding in the plain sight of a society, because you are being someone you truly are not. Some of the trails you hike can be a lot of work, but when you hike properly up the mountain, it doesn’t feel like work, as you enjoy the hike and all the true beauty all around you, then when you reach the summit, you actually feel the peace and serenity deep within your heart and soul.

” Reaching the summit of any mountain is more than just bragging  on your social platform, it is therapy for the soul and us being of who we truly are”

” Check your negative baggage in the car as there is no room on the trail of the mountain you are hiking”

” Hiking is full of change all around you, even within you as you hike along the trail”

” To move forward along the hike, helps you move forward in society within the peace and joy around you”

” Sometimes we get so cluttered with the negative thoughts around us, that we then need a good hike within nature, to unclog ourselves from a broken society”

The Mountains are calling……….

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

To those who have never trekked upon any mountain, let alone mountains that stand tall before them. When climbing any mountain you first have to be prepared for any weather changes that mat occur, then there is the terrain whether rocky, muddy, degree of steepness, or fallen trees in your way, you need a good pair of hiking boots, as they will provide support, as well as give a good grip for all the different terrain you may encounter. Hiking up mountains like in this picture, isn’t just slapping on a pair of sneakers and running up a trail, you first have to study the trail on a map so you don’t get lost along the trail, what would happen if the markers of the trail are not there, as they may have been knocked down during a storm or for whatever reason? You need an idea of how to navigate on the trail and a compass in the pack is a good tool for all Hikers.

We may hike any mountain simply because it is there? But for some we hike that mountain, to look deeply into what we see. Mountains have a way about them, that changes us as we trek to their summits. We start along the trail with one mind set or attitude about us, but as the trail dictates to us, we then change our demeanor, change the way we think of the mountain, look deeply into what we see, so we than can see all the true beauty of the mountain. There are no two mountains alike, each mountain is unique just as we are unique to each other and each mountain has a tale to tell, we just have to look deeply into what we see and not just climb the mountain because it is there.

The tale of the mountain begins at the beginning of the trail, with the different plant life, the different animals you may encounter, as they call the mountain their home, then along the trail and as it to changes from under our feet with the degree of steepness or maybe the width, with a good drop right next too us. plus as we get closer to the summit, now everything still changes, especially how all the trees are getting smaller as we climb. The vegetation OH!!! so delicate, becomes very different and if you step off the trail and kill, the vegetation it now dies and takes hundreds of years to grow back. Now as you reach the final push to the summit, you find the rest of the trek all rock with the trees as big as a small plant, you are now above tree line, leaving you susceptible to all the weather that the mountain endures, not too mention, you are out in the wide open with no cover to seek.  The mountain has many tales as you trek up it’s trails, with your feet feeling the heartbeat of the mountain with each step. In some ways the journey to the summit of the mountain, is similar to the journey of life, you walk a trail within both, you endure many changes along the trails, when you don’t respect the trail like life, now you have some crap to get through, but when you walk the trail in life the right way, it will reward you greatly, just like the reaching the summit of the mountain, with the great views, that wait for you to enjoy the peace and happiness, of a trail well blazed.

” The mountain is calling, you simply just look deeply into what you see, to truly understand what the mountain is telling”

” Hiking up a mountain is more than just physical exercise, it is true exercise for the mind, body and soul as well”

” Mountains will have an effect on all who trek them, that’s why there are many changes along the trail of the mountain”

” There are many rewards that come to us along this journey of life, but the reward of reaching the summit of any mountain, will take your breathe away with it’s beauty”

The American Bald Eagle

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The American Bald Eagle…… a beautiful bird so big and majestic,

The Eagle sits a top the tree’s and looks down on the land,

The white head, the gold beak with features like no other,

The Eagle is a symbol of the United States showing strength at every turn,

The Eagle flies through the air with the greatest of ease in search of food,

Then the Eagle swoops down and grabs a fish with the powerful Talons,

America is a strong country through all the diversity within the border walls,

It’s only fitting to have such a strong bird to represent this great country of America,

The Eagle flies high and proud as it soars through the blue sky,

Just as an American fighter Pilot flies with great pride for this great country,

The Eagle perched high above the tree top protecting the land,

Just as the United States Air Force flies the skies over this great country,

There is so much beauty within this great country of America,

With the American Bald Eagle adding even more beauty for all to see,

Natures beauty is all around us so we can enjoy throughout this journey,

With a big part of that beauty being the Eagle flying the friendly skies,

We walk our paths along this journey of life,

With the Eagles flying high above us and watching over us,

The Eagle rules the wild blue yonder with it’s soaring grace,

so we all can see the Eagle’s beauty within Natures beauty.

” The Eagle so big and powerful, but yet so beautiful as it soars the sky with ease”

” The American Bald Eagle a symbol of the United States, with great strength as the country it represents”

” Fly high fly proud as the Eagle does and with the United States Air Force”

” The Eagle perches high a top the trees looking down to protect the land within America”

A piece of History……

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The delivery of the History lesson and the way the teacher teaches the lesson………… Okay it might need some excitement brought into the lesson, but when you simply go out within Nature and explore, makes for a great way to learn all the History you want to learn about.

Rockwood is a small town within northern Maine at the tip of Moosehead lake toward the north and not far from the Canadian border. It is always fun to learn of these places, where you don’t venture to all that often, so you can see how the town was born, what resources came from this town and who was the first settlers of this town. Maine is one of those States that is full of History, some maybe you do know, but a lot you never knew. When some come here for a visit a lot of times they don’t take the time to truly learn of the History, only they jump into their boats and go so fast, the History goes right over their heads, without them really learning of where they are.

Yes the Ice Age was real and something that truly happened along this journey through life, this life evolves in cycles and each cycle is round, so over time, there are times that keeps repeating itself, just like the life cycle of each one of us, within our cycles there are the up’s as well as the down’s, things happen to us within our cycles for a reason and it is us that needs to find the reason, so we can be better informed as our cycle turns round and round, the same goes for the cycles within the journey as well, they also happen for a reason and unless we understand truly the reason, we will never truly understand any History that is right in front of us.

History has proven time and time again, that the Native Indian here in America was here first, it is us the White man that invaded them and pushed ourselves into their home. We cut down all the tree’s, developed all the land and all simply for the greed, then once we got a taste of the greed, we then let the greed control truly of who we are. Okay there have been some of our elected officials over the History of these United States that actually had a brain and with that brain, they have declared some of the land here a National land or park, where it is protected from any development, so there are is still some true beauty for us to get out and explore, but that still doesn’t make it right that we invaded and developed a good chunk of this land and all in the name of greed.

True that all this land within North America is rich with resources that we need, but there is a difference between taking the resources to make our lives better and taking the resources, just to line our pockets with greed. The biggest problem with the History of this great land of America is, we the People………. We the People have destroyed a big chunk of this land, just for the greed and could care less of any History that the land may hold. Mount Kineo was formed from the Ice Age of over 10,000 years ago, it was a place the Native Americans fished, hunted and gathered the Kineo Rhyolite, which is a durable stone for them to make their tools, this was also considered one of the best finds in all of North America. It is fun to learn of all this History and even more fun, to get out and explore as we walk our paths through this journey of life.

In the 1800’s the Moose river to Moosehead lake became the premier waterways for reaching all the logging roads within the woods of Maine and Rockwood, became the staging grounds for the full scale logging operations. Rockwood is truly a beautiful place and when you really learn of it’s History, makes it even more beautiful a place to visit and get away from the daily grind.

Every State within these United States is rich with their own History and to truly learn of the History, we need to get out and explore, instead of just developing the land, to fill our pockets with the greed, or not truly focusing on the history and getting lost within the journey for which we walk.

” Mount Kineo is one of those hidden gems, that most have no idea of what or even where it is”

” The native American was here first, as we the white man invaded and took their homes away from them”

” There are many places like Rockwood throughout this country, just that we have to get out and explore to see all the true beauty”

” There is much wildlife throughout the area of northern Maine, with the American Bald Eagle taking up residence there as well”

” The American Bald Eagle is such a big powerful bird and is fun to just sit and watch as they fly through the sky with the greatest of ease”

How Beautiful life really is……..

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

I sit here looking out on to the lake, forget what day it is and who cares what time it is, of whatever day? All the worries and the stress just seem to melt away, as you look out on to the lake, with the sun’s glitter moving ever so slowly. You hear the Loons of in the distance ( which are the Maine state bird), chatting with each other, then as you look toward the sky, an American Bald Eagle goes flying over head with the greatest of ease, an adult mature Eagle at that, with the white head, tail and the golden beak. How beautiful life really is, without the crap of the everyday drama and the stress that comes with our 9 to 5’s, or within the cities of our Society.

We are truly blessed to be able to walk our paths through this journey of life, just that we get so consumed with the crap and the ugliness, that we don’t take the time to truly see and look deeply into what is around us. There is so much more to life than what we may think? Or what we think we may know from our daily grind? There is a whole new World out there, just that we need to stop, slow down and really look deeply into what we see. Yes technology has taken over and with that the Media thinks they have to share “ALL” the crap, just so they can fill their pockets with greed. We the People as much as we don’t think are the ones in control of our own destiny’s.

When the water is calm, the Oar passes through the the water like a hot knife through butter, with each stroke of the Oar, now you move forward within your canoe and the sound of the Oar passing through the water is so relaxing, even though you are working to go from point A to point B. Although when you paddle the Oar slowly, now you can enjoy whatever animal that may come to the lakes shore, for their daily splash and drink. Simply because you are being as quiet as a Church Mouse, not to scare or startle the beauty you are looking at.

Look out on to the Lake and see the shore on the other side, what is over there you wonder? Maybe other Camper’s? Maybe a Moose or Deer, or maybe a Bear, just like on the side your on? Then you think just how nice this is, to be able to share this beauty with other species. There is so much more to this journey through life than our daily grind and a lot more species also walk their paths through this journey with us, we are not alone, but we carry on like we are alone with our current actions, instead of really looking deeply into into what we see, as we walk our paths through this journey through life.

” The American Eagle so Majestic and beautiful, flying through the air with the greatest of ease”

” The sounds of the Loon may be different to those who do not know of the bird, but these sounds do relax if you just sit and listen”

” Blessed be God for all this true beauty, so we can get out and enjoy all that is around us”

” The Oar passing through the calm water is so soothing and relaxing, helps make the stress and the drama just melt away”

The Appalachian trail

The Appalachian trail, a trail that will test you, a trail that will have you see many things, a trail that has many ups and downs and in the rain, will have you trekking through a lot of muddy and slippery trails. This trail goes from Maine to Georgia and covers a lot of different terrain, there has been quite a lot that have started to trek this trail, but the number of those who actually finish the trail, diminish greatly. This is a trail that has intrigued me for a long time and is on my bucket list, maybe one day I will hike it from Maine all the way down to Georgia.

I have read a few books from Authors who have trekked the entire trail, all of which have their own outlook of the trail and maybe that’s what intrigues me the most? Some trek this trail cause they have lost there way along this journey through life, so they go and try to find themselves along the trail, some just do it cause it is there and they just want to climb, there is no wrong reason to trekking this trail, you just have to be prepared for whatever this trail will throw at you and enjoy every mile for which you trek.

The Appalachian trail, a trail rich in history, a trail that has been there as long as we have made America a home, this trail has gone through much change in the way of Mother Nature and the way she erodes the Earth, to make room for the new. Someone could of hiked this trail once when they were younger, then come back some fifty years later and find that a lot has changed because of erosion, as Nature will get rid of it’s old to make room for the new, just like as we age, from the young baby, to the old man/woman. Everything changes and Nature is part of the change like you and I.

There are some parts of this trail that have been kept up by the hands of Humans, yet there is a lot of this trail that is untouched by man, it is these parts that maybe intrigue me the most, as these sections you don’t see everyday, these sections are so far removed from any civilization, that the normal person won’t even think they exist. These are the sections you have to be prepared for the most, as they could be the homes of some Bear, Moose etc….. Now your the invader and within their territory to respect as you walk. Just as if you were at your home and you would want your visitors to respect your home and belongings, now you have to respect the Animals homes and their belongings.

A Survivalist  is someone that can trek anywhere and not only survive where they are trekking, but can also adapt to the area for which they are trekking. A Survivalist is not someone with a silver spoon you know where, it is someone that can adapt anywhere and with anything that they come across, in today’s Society a Survivalist is far and few between, as most today rely on their techy devices and their social media platforms. Out there on the trail you learn your direction by where the sun is at the time of day you look up, you know sun rises in the East and sets in the west, so there is your six o’ clock and twelve o’ clock on the dial within the sky, so where ever the sun is from that will determine direction and time of day.

We all walk a path through this journey of life, within this journey of life, there are many other journeys and the Appalachian trail is one of those journeys. We all have our own journeys for which we want to trek through, but the one on my bucket list for someday is, the Appalachian trail as this trail intrigues me in ways that, only a trek of the trail will truly explain. Now you need to be in pretty good shape to trek this trail, as you will be climbing mountains as well as walking through prairies, you will be trekking in all kinds of weather and need to be ready for it as well, okay there are some different kinds of shelters along the way, like a lean-to’s to climb into, or maybe a hut to seek shelter in, but a lot of the shelter you will be in, will be the tent you carry on your back, strapped to your pack. Life along this trail is quite different than life within any city and you can’t just flip open a phone for help when needed, you need to learn to survive, to make your life along this trail, go as smooth……as smooth can be, while trekking through a Wilderness, far away from your civilization home.

” Appalachian Trail is a trail many have started, but few have finished from Maine to Georgia”

” To survive is not just flipping open a phone for help, it is surviving a place totally out of your normal routine”

” There are many journeys within the journey of life, some of which many will not trek cause it is away from their comfort zone”

” To be one with Nature and it’s surroundings, you first have to respect whats inside of nature without stirring the pot to vigorously”
