Escape within the beauty of Mother Nature

The quiet serenity and beauty all around you, that is exactly what escaping within Mother Nature is all about. Leaving the daily grind even if it is for a short time, it is time much needed with all the drama and ugliness within the daily grind. Camping season is right around the corner and having reservations for a camp site on Memorial weekend, I simply can not wait to unwind and totally relax within the beauty of Mother Nature.

The beach in this picture may be a bit rocky, but it is a beach that you can enjoy all to yourself, a beach to sit and watch the Eagles fly by and on occasion, swoop down into the water for it’s daily meal. Then there is the Loon swimming by as it sings back and forth with other Loons, what a beautiful sound to just sit and relax, as you listen to them in their habitat. Then if your lucky enough without being to noisy, a friendly Moose will come out of the woods to the lake shore, for a drink and a bath. Now let’s not forget all the different sounds you hear within woods behind you, some sounds you would normally never hear within the daily grind, Mother Nature is pure beauty and never ever forget!!! You are now within the homes of the animal kingdom, which you need to respect, just like you would want others to respect your home as they come to visit you.

As quiet as this picture is, it is really this quiet as you sit on this rocky beach in person, while you sit in your comfy chair on this beach and take in all the beauty around you, you will actually feel the stress of the daily grind leave your body, the clouds of your judgment, will become clear as you look out within the beauty, the transition from the daily grind, to the beauty of Mother Nature is the most beautiful thing and we all need more of it.

When you take to the outdoors and within the beauty of Mother Nature, you also have to explore and see things you never will see within the daily grind, when I lived in the great state of Colorado, I had a 4×4 pick up and would venture in the back country and as high as 13,000 feet on a mountain, the beauty I would come across would take your breathe away, plus from time to time, come across a few Ghost towns, dating back in time from the gold rush days, I would stop and get out of the truck to walk around these towns, as I then would gain a big respect for those of our past, seeing that a lot of the buildings were still standing strong today. I would also come across some animals I would never see otherwise as they lived within the high country, like the Doll sheep, and the Ram sheep, even mountain lion and antelope, plus some pretty big bull Elk, it is so beautiful to see these kind of animals in their elements. I came across this herd of Ram sheep one time, as some where actually ramming each other with the horns, I must say I was getting a headache watching this, as in the daily grind you would never get a chance to see this at all.

There is so much to the beauty of Mother Nature and unless you get out and explore this beauty, you will never see or witness this beauty, from the daily grind that we all get caught up within. We all walk a path through this journey of life, we all become too programmed within our daily grinds, to the point that some never get out to see the true beauty of Mother Nature, When you think about it……………. That is too sad because, we then become too tense and have no idea of what truly relaxing really is. When we are too tense that is when we bring all the ugliness we see today to each other, we then think that this is the norm? This is not truly of who we are, who we truly are…………….. Are people with love in our hearts that keeps us warm inside, when we become too tense, we then never truly feel the warmth of this love and then never share it with each other. The warmth of the love within your heart, is Jesus Christ our savior and his love for us, he loves us all deeply and equally, no matter of who you are, we within today’s daily grind, never give ourselves a chance to truly feel this love, as we become so engulfed, within the ugliness and hatred of today.

” Escape to the beauty of mother nature, to truly relax and get back in touch with the warmth of love within your heart from Jesus Christ”

” The rocky beach at first glance may look rough, but it’s true beauty will surround you with plenty of peace and serenity”

” The sounds of mother nature will totally relax you, as the stress of the daily grind will melt from your mind, body and soul”

” It may be a ghost town now, but at one point it was a bustling little town, full of joy, happiness and love”

The Majestic………The Grand

Every time I look at this hotel, I think about Stephen King’s the shining, a glamorous but yet old hotel rich in history. This hotel has been around as long as I can remember. The only thing though, I have never stayed at this hotel, when I wander up that way, I am usually staying at one of the mountain huts, or within a tent set up at my base camp, for a good nights rest by night and a good hike throughout the daylight hours.  I am sure this hotel, known as the Mount Washington hotel, has it’s own stories to tell, just like the hotel in the movie the shining, plus they both have something in common and that is, they both are surrounded by beautiful mountains and fresh air.                    When I was younger and hiking through these great mountains by day and staying within the huts on the mountains by night, the crew at these huts would embark in an after dinner story telling time and usually these stories were of the Ghost story kind, now whether these stories were fact or fiction? is totally up to the ones listening. With as old as the Mount Washington is, I am sure it to has it’s own Ghost stories to tell. Maybe one day I will stay at this hotel and totally take in the full ambiance of the hotel, including listening to the hotel itself and what it has to say, including all the old structures with it’s crackling and squeal of the hinges, when you open and close the door, but maybe the maintenance man has been busy with the grease, greasing up the old parts of the hotel?                       These mountains in the back drop of this grand hotel are part of the Presidential range, within the white mountains of New Hampshire, with all the mountains on the range being named after past Presidents and yes of course, Mount Washington is the tallest at 6,288 feet right behind the grandest of hotels in the area. The white mountains are like a second home to me, as I have hiked quite a few of them, I am also very close to being able to say I have hiked all the mountains in New Hampshire over 4,000 feet, with only five peaks left. True…………..yes I am getting older, but this beauty within these mountains, is what keeps me young and what keeps me healthy everyday. Now that don’t mean I don’t have aches and pains, especially with all the miles I have acquired on my feet, but it is good aches and pain, as I totally enjoy being outside and one with Mother Nature.                         I have also lived in Colorado for a few years and yes it is an awesome place to live, while you also explore the back country of the state. I would either take trips in my 4×4  up some quite steep and rural mountain passes, or I would set base camp and take on some great hiking as well, where I have been at the highest of my lifetime so far at 14,500 feet, up a mountain named, mount Albert. Totally different than the White mountains, each has their own beauty, as they to, like we Humans are very unique to each other. You can not compare one to another, as they both are very special places to me and within my heart forever, which no one can take that from me. We all have our own special places that we hold dear, these places may mean nothing to others, but to us………..ourselves, they mean the world us and no one can take these places from us. Plus as we walk our paths through this journey of life and with all the ups and downs of the journey, we can in our minds go back to these places, to truly have some solitude within ourselves, as we take the pitfalls of the journey and turn them into big success, to keep moving forward better and stronger, throughout the rest of our journey through life.  ” Having solitude for us is important, as it helps us heal within to be better and stronger moving forward”  ” Get out and explore, who knows you just may connect with your inner self and discover great solitude and happiness”  ” Ghost stories fact or fiction, you be the judge of what you truly believe”  ” Feeling of accomplishment will help you move forward better and stronger always”

How Beautiful life really is……..

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

I sit here looking out on to the lake, forget what day it is and who cares what time it is, of whatever day? All the worries and the stress just seem to melt away, as you look out on to the lake, with the sun’s glitter moving ever so slowly. You hear the Loons of in the distance ( which are the Maine state bird), chatting with each other, then as you look toward the sky, an American Bald Eagle goes flying over head with the greatest of ease, an adult mature Eagle at that, with the white head, tail and the golden beak. How beautiful life really is, without the crap of the everyday drama and the stress that comes with our 9 to 5’s, or within the cities of our Society.

We are truly blessed to be able to walk our paths through this journey of life, just that we get so consumed with the crap and the ugliness, that we don’t take the time to truly see and look deeply into what is around us. There is so much more to life than what we may think? Or what we think we may know from our daily grind? There is a whole new World out there, just that we need to stop, slow down and really look deeply into what we see. Yes technology has taken over and with that the Media thinks they have to share “ALL” the crap, just so they can fill their pockets with greed. We the People as much as we don’t think are the ones in control of our own destiny’s.

When the water is calm, the Oar passes through the the water like a hot knife through butter, with each stroke of the Oar, now you move forward within your canoe and the sound of the Oar passing through the water is so relaxing, even though you are working to go from point A to point B. Although when you paddle the Oar slowly, now you can enjoy whatever animal that may come to the lakes shore, for their daily splash and drink. Simply because you are being as quiet as a Church Mouse, not to scare or startle the beauty you are looking at.

Look out on to the Lake and see the shore on the other side, what is over there you wonder? Maybe other Camper’s? Maybe a Moose or Deer, or maybe a Bear, just like on the side your on? Then you think just how nice this is, to be able to share this beauty with other species. There is so much more to this journey through life than our daily grind and a lot more species also walk their paths through this journey with us, we are not alone, but we carry on like we are alone with our current actions, instead of really looking deeply into into what we see, as we walk our paths through this journey through life.

” The American Eagle so Majestic and beautiful, flying through the air with the greatest of ease”

” The sounds of the Loon may be different to those who do not know of the bird, but these sounds do relax if you just sit and listen”

” Blessed be God for all this true beauty, so we can get out and enjoy all that is around us”

” The Oar passing through the calm water is so soothing and relaxing, helps make the stress and the drama just melt away”

Change happens all around us….

Waterfall

” And he transfigured before them, his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light”.

*** Mt 17:2***

Change happens all around us as we walk our paths through this journey of life. As Jesus took a couple Disciples up the mountain to the summit, what changed them was the Lord God out of know where, came to them and spoke deeply, that was more of a Transformation or an out of body experience, that truly changed who they once were. Only a few of us experience this kind of Transformation, the rest of us only hear of it and then speculate what it is like, when we speculate we then add lib, meaning we add things that never really happened, just to personalize the experience even though we never been through it. The add libbing is who we all have become within this Society, as we all want to personalize or place our own stamp on this journey, we become jealous of the ones that actually do have their stamp on this journey, which causes the rest of us to become someone we truly are not, instead of working hard to create something that just might change us deeply and for the better,

” This journey of life isn’t about the quantity we accumulate,  but everything about the quality for which we live”

Those of us that have taken the trek up a mountain……. any mountain and have experienced the adrenaline rush and the feeling of reaching the summit, would be the closest thing to an out of body experience of true Transformation.  The mountain that gave me my biggest rush of emotion and adrenaline was, mount Albert in Leadville, Colorado. This mountain stands at 14,500 feet above sea level and is the highest I have ever been so far. But the rush I got was know where near the rush you get from a total Transformation, or an out of body experience that totally changes who you once were. Now as you trek up any mountain for which you choose, there are many feelings you go through along the trail, from the exhaustion of hard work, to the feelings of awe…… that over whelms your body as you see all the different scene’s as you trek higher and higher into the sky it seems, you see first hand at all the landscape that God has created for us and yes this landscape also changes as we change throughout this journey, with each step higher to the summit, you see the tree’s getting smaller making you look taller, but what you do not realize is, the tree’s are giving way to a feeling like no other once you reach the summit of the mountain. This journey through life has many ways for us to get Wowed!!! along the way, but no more Wowed!!! then the feeling you have seeing all the beauty around you, no matter of what mountain you reach the summit of, now this Wow factor may not be like the the true Transformation of truly changing who you once were, but for us who may never experience that, this is as close as it gets.

Like we walk a path through this journey of life, Jesus also…… when he came to us walked a journey through this same life, he showed us the way to the true path of righteousness and has taught us many things along the way, but one no more than actually feeling the love we all have within our hearts and souls, then sharing that love with all that is around us. This journey will have us face many changes along the way, but only a few chosen ones will actually go through the changes of Transformation, Jesus hand picks these Individuals as he truly knows just who these chosen ones are, which they are destined to achieve special things along their journey and then as they feel unselfish, will share with all that is around them, so we all can truly change for the better and walk our paths in peace, throughout this journey of life. Sometimes this Transformation takes place at birth and becomes our destiny, sometimes this The Transformation comes at times of tragedy, crisis, or maybe from a major illness we miraculously over come, either way this is our chance to make right all our wrongs, so we can be happy as we make others around us happy, throughout this journey of life.

” True transformation changes who you once were, as your thoughts and your actions change to become better than you once were”

” Trekking up a mountain and experiencing that Wow!!! factor of reaching the summit, is an experience we all need to experience to see all the true beauty all around us”

” God created this landscape for us all to enjoy, not for us all to abuse or take advantage of”

Camping a time to relax and unwind….

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

Camping season is right around the corner, a time to get outside, be one with nature and enjoy the beauty that Mother Earth holds, plus enjoy some relax time with no worries for the time off day. True camping is within a tent, as that other camping that you have the comforts of home on wheels, is just simply parking as your not really deep within the woods and your within a camping park with much recreation to do, I would rather create my own recreation, at my own leisure.

Nature walks, breathing the fresh crisp air, sitting by the campfire and just being one with your surroundings, now that’s what camping is all about. Then as you look deeply around you and see all the wild animals around you, like a deer, a moose, or maybe a bear and seeing them up close while they walk their daily journey, or maybe the awesome Eagle flying by? This is true camping and gets us away from the chaos of Society for a short while. True you have to be aware of all the animals around you, but with common sense and respecting them, you will find they welcome you to join them in their environment. Some may never go camping within a tent as it may not be their cup of tea, but they will invest in one of those camping RV’s, that’s fine…… but they are not truly camping deep within the woods, where the true relaxation is either.

While camping deep within the woods always remember you are not alone, there are other creatures around you, which makes it that much more important that, when you pack up to go home, you leave your area cleaner than when you got there. Always respect the land as well as the other creatures around you, never leave your fire pit with smoldering coals and always make sure the coals are distinguished, so that the Forest will always be there when you want to camp, deep within the woods of the Forest, never leave your trash behind as you wouldn’t want the tenants of the woods to leave a mess in your backyard, I am sure those tenants of the woods will come sniffing for food after your departure, but never leave them anything, so they won’t expect anything when you return, as this could get ugly if they tend to expect something and never get it while you are there. Common sense is the key to having a fun, exciting and enjoyable camping adventure.

Setting a tent on the carpet of the green grass may be comforting, I remember living out in Colorado and camping at 13,000 feet and setting a tent on the snow pack on the mountain, that was different and definitely a little colder on the body, but with the right tarp under the tent and the right mat laid out inside the tent, to lay your sleeping bag upon, makes for a different kind of comfort, as you sleep within the tent at night, then digging a hole in the snow, so you can make a camp fire to cook and get the chill off, now that was an experience to remember and learn from, as I learned how to make a fire in a very different atmosphere. We all walk a path through this journey of life, we all have our ways and our own likes, this is what makes us unique to each other, but when you experience true Wilderness camping, now you can say that this journey has many paths and many ways for each of us to enjoy ourselves everyday, as well as many ways for us to relax and be at peace, with great happiness always.

” Camping is not just parking on wheels with the comforts of home”

” Camping within a tent deep within the woods is so relaxing”

” ” Being one with nature is so soothing to the mind, body and soul”

” ” Mother nature and all the creatures within it can get along, when we respect ourselves as well as all that is around us”

A White Winter blanket

early winter

The white blanket of the winter so white and so soft,

The white Winter blanket coming to a driveway and yard near you soon,

With the white Winter blanket brings cold days to wrap up in multi layers,

The white Winter blanket covers the ground to help the spring thaw and rejuvenation,

Some may like the ground cover to be green, as others like the white,

The white Winter blanket brings different outside activities to enjoy,

When we roll around on the white blanket we find it to be very cold,

The blanket may cover the ground but it is not the type to cover us for warmth,

Walking on the white blanket may be tricky as we find we sink within it,

After a fresh white blanket drops from the sky, it makes all so beautiful,

Then after the beauty, time to get to work in clearing the white blanket from the driveway,

The white blanket wasn’t meant to be driven on, as it then becomes padded down and slick,

With the White blanket it makes for a very special day on Christmas day,

The white blanket on Christmas eve makes for a soft landing for Santa Claus,

Skiers love the white blanket as they go up the mountain and ski down,

Then there are the Alpine skiers who use the blanket to trek through the woods,

You like engines then go out and Snowmobile on top  of a White blanket,

You need a very deep and thick blanket to navigate the trails for the Ski-Doo,

There is a lot to do on the white blanket, just have to go out and do them,

You can’t have Winter without a white blanket just as you can’t have the blanket without winter,

The white Winter’s blanket comes to us all as the cold winter air chills us to the bone,

The cold Winter days brings this white Winter blanket as we all walk our path through this journey of life.

” Survival skills in the wilderness you can melt down the white blanket on the fire to make drinking water, just stay away from the Yellow variety.

” The white blanket of Winter covers the ground with real beauty especially on Christmas day.

” The white blanket of the Winter comes from the sky and covers all with the beauty of a White Winter’s day”

The perfect camp site where the only way to get to it is, drive a boat there loaded with your camping gear. I can’t say where it is, only because I don’t want to give away this hidden gem. You want peace and serenity? you will have plenty of it here, great place to unwind from the daily grind we all go through on our paths of our journey through life. Just sit and relax, while you breathe in the air which is the cleanest air you will ever breathe anywhere. The beauty of the Pines around you, while you set your tent on the carpet of the pine needles so soft that you will fall asleep as soon as you lay down. Set up your kitchen and dining area by the campfire at the waters edge, then enjoy breakfast with the sunrise and dinner by the sunset, it really doesn’t get any better than this. During the day go for walks and truly explore what is around you and have fun learning as you go. This is a campsite that truly is more beautiful than you can ever imagine, i have camped in a lot of places, even at 13,000 feet on a mountain in the Colorado Rockies, but this site? Now your talking a beauty of it’s own.

The Pine tree in the middle looked like it was just struck by lightening, judged by the freshness of the tree and the way it split down toward the bottom of the trunk,    thank God I wasn’t around when the lightening struck, but when your camping deep within the woods around a lake as this, it is wise advice to always keep an eye to the sky and always be prepared for anything, including the presence of a Bear or two? True Camper’s who like the real primitive type of camping, aren’t wavered by these kind of threats, but they are well prepared for whatever situation that may cross their paths. For some their idea of camping is backing the trailer into a site and plugging into the electric and connecting the water hose for a flushing toilet? To me that is not camping, that is parking with all the comforts of home, true camping is to get out of your comfort zone and explore all that is around you, where you make your own enjoyment or simply just relax and clear your mind of all the crap within it, from the daily grind of this journey of life.

Camping is a sort of therapy, where it soothes your sole, clears the mind, so you can get back to truly being yourself, which is why the location of the site is the, or should be the number one priority. These big Public KOA campsites are okay, but your not going to get the same peace and serenity, like the campsite in the picture, the bigger campsites have daily activities laid out for you, but the whole idea behind real primitive camping is too escape the chains of our everyday life and be free, to explore, forget what time it is and just go with the flow, then learn to see the location of the sun in the sky and determine what time of day it is. We all walk a path through this journey of life and camping is a way to, clear our heads of all the crap in our daily lives, soothe the soul to truly relax, recharge our batteries, so we can get back to being who we truly are, instead of this fake portrayal of ourselves and pretending to be someone we are not.

” Camping isn’t just a way to relax or clear your head, it was a way of life at the beginning of Mankind”

” The Native Indians would camp everyday as they slept in their Tee Pee’s every night and made a camp fire for their Tribal rituals”

” The beauty of camping is to enjoy all there is around you”

” Camping for some is to back up the trailer and plug in the cord for their television and appliances, true camping is to unwind and get away from all the distractions”

The Real true Beauty that is around us

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a mountain range in Franconia Notch, within the state of New Hampshire, One of the most beautiful of Notches that New Hampshire has. Once you reach the summit of any of these mountains, then walk across the ridge between each mountain, really there are no words, just quite simply……… it will take your breathe away with the beauty, especially on a beautiful sunny day with no clouds. For those yet to embark on any kind of real hiking and not a simple nature walk in the woods…….. what are you waiting for? True the journey to the summit may be a bit physical, it may take some work to walk the trails to the top, but the end result will leave you in awe for the rest of your life, not too mention, actually seeing all the true beauty of God’s Country, the way he envisioned us to seeing it.

Within this Society we all live, we don’t take enough time to enjoy all that is around us and I don’t mean, watching all the ugliness that surrounds us, or maybe keeping an eye on someone walking down the street, then wondering if they will try to break into your home? To truly enjoy all that is around, go to places that you normally would never go, go trekking on some trails that actually give you a workout and takes some work to walk, go camping in places that don’t offer you a swimming pool or nightly events for campers in the recreation hall,  go camping in places that are deep within the woods and your devices won’t work or even get a signal, that is the problem in this Society, people are afraid to go away from being plugged in to any device. There is a lot more to this journey of life then we even think about in our daily lives, we get so caught up in the crap, we then forget about the real world out there among us. I get the fact that we all suffer some life events at one time or another but what we forget is, instead of suppressing the crap deep within ourselves, fix what needs to be fixed, so we can continue walking our paths with confidence and strength. When we are strong and confident, our self Esteem then flourishes which helps us achieve all that we set out to do, when we suppress we then become someone we are truly not, which then leaves us within the world of self doubt, which is a place that has zero beauty to it at all. We all need an intervention in this Society, we all need to fix what the true problems are, so we than can continue to walk our paths of this journey through life, with strength and confidence, to be better and be at peace within ourselves and what is around us.

There is a lot more to all our paths of this journey through life, all we have to do is go out and explore, do things that take us out of our normality, change is good and when done correctly, change can be great for us all as we walk our paths of this journey. Go hiking up a mountain that offers you a challenge and that in return, will have your breathe taken away by the sure beauty that is around you. True you may become addicted to this beauty, but I would rather this addiction, then any evil addiction, like drugs… alcohol etc….. If hiking is not for you, then take to some real camping, like being one with nature and camping so deep in the woods, that your alone with your thoughts to unwind and clear your head of all the cob webs, that this Society en-plants within you. Real Primitive camping is how our true Ancestor’s lived, these are the true Warriors of Mankind and us today are totally weak compared to them. We have become so lazy with all this technology at our finger tips, that we have totally forgotten how to truly live anymore. We have become so dependent on being plugged in,  that we have forgotten how to unplug and enjoy all the true beauty around us. We have become so crazy within this Society, that we complain about everything around us, instead of really doing something about it, when we complain of everything we will never truly see the beauty around us, which will then have us become bitter of everything including becoming bitter of ourselves, which then lets self doubt enter into our lives as we walk our paths of this journey through life.

There is a lot more to life and walking our paths then being plugged in all the time, get out and enjoy all that is around you, simply by doing things out of the ordinary and taking you out of your normal life. Go out and explore in places that you would normally never venture, go trekking through the woods and see what kind of true beauty awaits you? Unplug from your daily routine and get plugged into a whole new world to you, a world that has no electricity and if you walk far enough, you just might find the true you, the you that has become lost within this ugly Society of today. We as Humans are very unique to each other, but when we keep attacking one another, only shows just how dumb we have become within this Society and the fact that we all need a major intervention, as we walk our paths of this journey through life.

” The true beauty awaits you, all you need to do is unplug and explore what is around you”

” Hiking and camping to some is too much work, but it is work that will give you the biggest rewards”

” Unplug from your devices and get outdoors and plug into the true beauty of life and truly find the real you hidden inside”

” Change is scary, change can be difficult, but when done correctly, change can be the greatest thing we will do”

The White Mountain Region of New Hampshire

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

This is one of the most beautiful notches within the White mountain Region, known as Franconia Notch with some of the best hikes for the adventurous types. Lafayette, Liberty, little Haystack, the Flume, just some of the peaks within this Notch and when high above the tree’s and along the ridge of these mountains, the view will take your breathe away. Looking across to the other mountain which would be to my right as I took this picture, is Cannon mountain, lively with skiing in the winter and mostly known for the old Man of the mountain throughout my lifetime, til a few short years ago and erosion has brought him to his demise,   one of the most viewed landmarks throughout all of New England, he brought many lookers to this beautiful Notch. Now unless you are a Hiker and are hiking this beautiful Notch, the traffic just drives by without really looking deeply into what they see.

Just to the right of center in this picture within this large rock face you see, just below the top, there is a huge rock, visible to those who walk along the ridge above the tree’s, this rock is hanging almost like by a thread and it has been like this as long as I can remember, well……. if this rock someday falls as the face of the Old man of the mountain did, it would go down it’s peak, across the road below and up Cannon mountain and whatever is in its way, it will simply run it over as it is that big.  Hiking through this Notch and accomplishing each Summit, there is no better feeling in the World, especially hiking up mount Lafayette, i can remember about five false summits, every time I thought the summit was in sight and when I got to that location, there was another to reach, but even through all that the view from the summit was better than the word of ” awesome”, if you reached the summit and it was a beautiful sunny day with blue clear skies, you can see as far as your eyes will let you. There is another one of those AMC huts for the weary Hiker to rest and get a good meal, this is the Green leaf hut and when you get there, get settled in and go outside to sit on a rock, look at the scene before you, there is no better way to unwind from a days hike, let alone to clear your mind from being weary, to totally relaxed before you know it, again this hut is above the line of tree’s and you can see clearly in all directions, or whatever window you may look out from inside the hut.

Hiking is a good way to clear your mind, from the everyday crap that fills it, from wherever you may live. It is also good exercise that will keep you fit if you do a lot more than one hike a year? Hiking and meditation go hand in hand, as the hike to the summit may be strenuous and weary, but when you reach the summit, now it is time to relax and clear the mind, as meditation will do. When you sit on top of any summit, you gaze deeply into the horizon, while you breathe in and breathe out properly, which then relaxes all your muscles within your body, then you feel a sense of calm over whelm your body, this calmness helps fix yourself from whatever that is troubling you, it makes these troubles seem like they are melting away, then as we start the journey back down the mountain and back to the real World below, it is our memory of this sense of calmness, that helps us keep fixing ourselves from all our troubles, as we then get back to walking our paths of this journey through life, with the rest of Mankind around us.

” Franconis Notch to some may be a road surrounded by mountains, but to others it is a sanctuary away from reality to unwind and relax, while we get mesmerized by its beauty”

” Old Man of the Mountain was a popular man for a long time, but like anything else change comes even when you least expect it”

” Once you go to the White mountains  for the first time, you keep going back to truly look deeply into what you see”

” When you look deeply into what you see, you then see truly of all the beauty that is around you”

The Grand Mount Washington Hotel

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA

The Mount Washington hotel has a deep history to it and as long as it has been there, I am sure a few good haunting stories to go along with it. Every time I go by this Hotel I am inclined to stop and take in the beauty all around it, the mountain range in the back drop of the hotel I have hike many times, the range is known as the Presidential Range. Just to the left of the Hotel and socked within the clouds is Mount Washington, at an elevation of 6,288 feet, it is the tallest peak Northeast of the Mississippi River, a mountain I have hiked many times, been up the auto road a couple times, but have never been up the Cog Railway, as…okay…… Maybe a bit nervous to travel up a mountain, that I have no control of how it gets to the top and back to the bottom of the peak, but I would rather hike the mountain, so I can take in all the true beauty that is around me. When hiking to the top of this mountain on this side, you go past one of the many Huts that are spaced out within a days hike of each other, this hut you pass is known as the Lake of the clouds hut, yes there are two small lakes there, one used strictly for drinking and the other for jumping in to cool off after a long days hike. This hut is wide open with no tree’s around, making for an adventure in itself, when there is a passing thunder storm that has decided to take the same path as you along the trail. I can also say truthfully that I have hiked part of the Appalachian trail and this Presidential range is part of that trail as well, but hopefully one day I will be able to hike the entire Appalachian trail and be part of the history of that trail, like so many have tried and only a few actually have hiked the entire trail.

The other reason why I stop to look at this Hotel and the beautiful backdrop behind it is, it reminds me of the famous Stephen King and his book ” the Shining”, the only difference is the Hotel in the book is surrounded by the awesome Colorado Rockies, of which those mountains are much bigger, making the hiking adventure more rigorous, harder on the feet, but yet more spectacular on the eyes. Both Hotels are Grand in their own way and I am sure each has their stories that either differ or are similar to each other,   but unlike the Hotel in the book, the Mount Washington Hotel stays open in the winter, which brings a whole different clientele within the walls of the Hotel. The Hotel in the book closes for the winter, as it’s private setting  makes it difficult to get to, in a harsh winter storm. Which is why there is a caretaker that stays there alone through the winter months and towards the end of their time there, the quietness and the “magic” of the Hotel, starts to play with the mind of the caretaker, making for a creepy read, or a movie if you have seen the movie instead? Just like the Hotel in the “shining”, I am sure the Mountain Washington has it’s own story to tell, just that it hasn’t spoken like the Hotel in the book.

I can remember hiking the Presidential range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire as a young kid and staying in the huts up above tree line, these huts had their crews that worked up there feeding and taking care of the weary Hiker, at night before we would turn in for the night, these crew members would embark in some Ghost stories for us, they would use other huts or trails we have yet to embark on, as the basis of their stories, now whether these stories were actually true or made up well…… that was up to the ones that were listening and hanging on their every word. Now some of these stories actually were told so well, it was very hard to not believe, but then again with so many Hiker’s that have perished along these trails, maybe there actually were some Ghosts still walking these trails, to try to finish what they set out to do? Hiking these trails is so quiet and peaceful, it can play with your mind and have you hear things that is not really there, only because it is so quiet with a feeling of loneliness, I can only imagine if I were to hike the entire Appalachian Trail, from Springer mountain Georgia, to Mount Katahdin in Maine and with the quietness and the peacefulness that will surround you along the way, just how much will my own mind want to play tricks on me as well? But with that said, it is still a trail for which I would love to walk, as the ones that have started and finished this trail, it has changed them for the better, with a big feeling of accomplishment, that will never leave them, nor will anyone ever take it from them as well.

The Mount Washington Hotel nestled within the mountains and the clouds of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a Hotel full of grandeur and spaciousness, that also has it’s own story to tell and we simply have to listen, so we can understand better of the beauty within and around it. Don’t just stay at the Hotel, just to say you have stayed there, really breathe in the atmosphere around you, look deeply into what you see, explore all that is around you and really listen to what the Hotel tells you, as old as it is, i am sure there are some squeakiness  to it and through the squeakiness, could be the Ghost of the Hotel, trying to tell you the true story of where you are staying, who knows the bed that you are sleeping on, or the room you are staying in, could of been used by one of our Fore Fathers, that had a hand in building this great country of America? Which would make the voice or voices you hear very informative with a history lesson, of the Grandest Hotel that you may ever stay within.

” everything around us has its own story to tell us, all we have to do is take the time to listen and not only enjoy, but pay attention with our hearts and souls”

” The mount Washington hotel is a very old hotel full of history with spectacular views, to stay here is more than just sleeping in a bed”

” The White Mountains of New Hampshire are great to look at from all angles, but to hike within them, now you can actually feel the heart beat of each mountain”
