” He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat, mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him”

MK 1:19-20

You can be a Fisherman, or you can be a Fisher of Men? No matter which you chose, the reward will fill your heart with warmth, as Jesus Christ fills it with love. Both paths need maintenance, both paths are within this journey of life, and like all paths, there will be many up’s and down’s. Nobody ever said the journey was easy, and those that do, are only kidding themselves as they really haven’t lived the journey.

A Fisherman can and will catch many fish, to not just feed himself, but will feed many throughout his journey, yes will come maintenance at every turn, and not just maintenance of himself, but maintenance of all his supplies and equipment as well. The Fisherman will need a boat to sail out and catch the bigger prize, as the bigger the fish, the more it feeds. A Fisherman needs plenty of faith, cause when he has faith in the days journey, there will be much hope, to return with a boat load of fish, to feed himself and all the Town’s people.

As Jesus walked his path among us, within this journey of life, there were many who followed, but the twelve main followers, were his most loyal, and the ones that were to further his teachings, after he sacrificed himself, for us all. The Fishermen is very much like the Fisher of Men, as one has the followers in the sea, within the net, then hauled into the boat, for the days catch. The Fisher of Men, walk along the land, with their followers, walking behind them, and learning the ways of Jesus through them, sharing the love of Jesus within their hearts, with all those around them, on their journey through their lives.

Now within this society, of which we all walk our paths, the problem before us is, we have strayed away from the house of God, we have buried the warmth of the love of Jesus within our hearts, as our hearts then become cold and bitter. We take to the sea’s on our boat’s, not just for the scenic views, but we only catch the daily catch, for our own consumption, with no thought of anyone around us. Then as we walk our paths along this land, we do so by ourselves, not just making it a lonely journey, but losing the faith of each other, which then has us become divided from each other, and as we are divided, and as our hearts have become cold, we then lose the trust and faith of each other, leaving us with no hope moving forward.

As much as we do not want to admit to, we do need each other, as we walk our paths along this journey of life, this is what makes us complete, and when we enter the doors, of the house of God, and truly believe in his son Jesus, then our hearts become warm with his love, so we than can share that love with each other, as all the ugliness of Satan, disappears from all that is around us. When we all stand as one, with nothing between us to divide us, then there is nothing we can not do, there is nothing to stand in our way, so we then can get to that path of righteousness, which lights up our paths very brightly, with much peace and happiness, and when we are all at our happiest, then it becomes very easy, to show respect, and dignity of each other. Without the love of Jesus within our hearts, it then turns very cold with bitterness, the wall between us, divides us greatly, which makes everything seem so bleak, we then feel very lonely and isolate ourselves further, to try to protect ourselves from all that is around us, this makes for a very rough journey, with great darkness, and no light anywhere, as far as we can see.

” True there will be some darkness to walk through, so the light will come strong and bright”

” A Fisherman will catch the catch of the day, a Fisher of Men will gather us all in faith with great hope moving forward”
